It's been almost a month now since I left Facebook

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Mar 9, 2018.

  1. Right now, I feel a weight lifted off my shoulders that it's one less thing on my mind. I was so tired of all the drama, and it was a tab open all the time whenever my laptop was on.

  2. Honestly Instagram and Facebook,Twitter are waste of time,I don’t understand why I was into the crap in high school.

  3. I remember leaving at one point and nobody seemed to notice I was gone. I returned a while ago however I don't want to get caught up with drama either this time. I sort of convince myself it's a planning app for events and don't really look at anything else.

Good for you, man. Most people are as addicted to facebook as they are to porn.

  5. It was the same addiction for me, but unlike porn, I have never gone back since I left. Way too much drama, even on support groups for autism I was on. Not only that, a lot of the people I knew and went to high school with were either getting married or having kids or both. So much depressing news stories on my newsfeed. Sayonara, Facebook, you're too much of a downer for me

  6. Yeah people getting married and having kids can really make me depressed. A weird depression where it's like 99% sadness and 1% happiness that they actually made it yet I'm still barely chugging along.

  7. Valentine's Day would kill me

  8. Awww man it still does I don't know how I got through last month

  9. It doesn't hurt as much now since I know I've been single for every one of them

  10. Good thing. It's been more than 1 year for me though.

I would do the same, but I have to keep FB for university purposes

  12. Really? Is that a requirement from the school to be on FB?
I'm studying too, and everybody from my class are on FB but I'm not and I don't need to be. If we need to share files in groups, I get the file via e-mail and that's not a problem. If you are using Mac, AirDrop is also an opportunity. I get that some things are easier on FB but it isn't that much easier that it's worth all the waste of time, drama, addiction and fake friendships. Is it? :)

All the material is uploaded to fb groups, there are several of those. All the events are shared there. All that info wouldn't be emailed to one person

    I haven't been either. That's why I said most.

  15. Don't your school use some kind of service like fronter.com (that's the one my school is using) to upload files to? If I were you, I would ask the school what people without FB are suppose to do. I find it very hard to imagine that we'd reached the point where FB has become a forced community to be part of. After all we still got money that aren't digital.
I'm aware that if everybody is using FB in a class, then stuff is just shared there, but if there is one person who says that he or she doesn't use FB then they will figure out something for that person. If more than five people aren't on FB then they will probably find another solution than FB for the class.

I'm really worried about the future if FB is THAT big a deal already for people who aren't using it. I thought that everything required FB before I deleted my account, but then after I deleted it, I realized that life was still possible. :)

I hope you're going to figure things out with the school :)

PS: Do they kick people out of school, if they gets banned from FB for some reason? (FB tend to do that)

Good for you. I have deleted my facebook account a few months ago and it's one of the best decisions I have made.

  17. I've been off Facebook for 4 years at least... Yes, most people forgot I exist... But life is MUCH better without it.

Previously I felt I had to "prove myself" in everything I did... Now I just do it...

Also, when I'm out with my friends I see them wasting time on Facebook... Meanwhile I am just enjoying the moment as it is :)

  18. I've been on it since 2009. It was as hard to give up as it was for me to give up porn

  19. Sorry, edited my post - I meant to say I've been "off" Facebook for 4 years not on it... I was fine when it came to quitting, I literally just shut it off & boom never reactivated it again. For me it was easier to quit than porn because if I failed and came back, everybody would see... Whereas you can relapse with porn without anyone knowing.

  20. I find this hard to do, as a artist I really want to be in contact with the community. And I use it as a agenda for upcoming events. But to narrow it down to less than three times a day would be a great goal I suppose.
