NoFap - 3 years of trying, can't get past a week

  1. I've been attempting NoFap for the last 3 years and cannot get past just a few days. Whenever I have a bad day or feel tired and I just end up relapsing.

    I've thought about seeking a professional to help but any other advice would be welcomed!

    I would advice you to block pornographic content on the device you use the most for PMO so you wont be able to surrender to your urges & feel shit afterwards & continue this never ending cycle of mysery. It really helped when I discovered on this forum that you can block pmo stuf on your phone without using an app. I have been clean for a week or so & I have been able to focus on the things that really matter the most to me & to think about how to tackle my problems instead of pmo my feelings away

    I found it helpful to properly understand the addiction. Gives you perspective, separates your rational mind from your addicted mind, and helped me to actually see for the 1st time what a damn mess I was in. Tons of info on this site, on "your brain on porn"and elsewhere. That helped light a fire under me to change and sort myself out that has so far stayed stronger than the addiction. Also:
    - read the forums. This is a safe a super informative space
    - post your own journal. That helps like nothing else
    3yrs trying and you're maxing out at a few days? Sounds like you haven't yet found the right headspace to give it a real shot. Once you do, the fight proper begins!

    Few things:

    1) I agree with @jamesrobert that Education is very important in the fight against PMO!
    2) Check with your doctor to be sure that there's nothing wrong with your body. You may have too high testosterone
    3) I'd suggest you staying at your friends (not girls sorry) for 1-2 days so that way there's NO chance you can watch Porn and Fap. That's what I did in my 2nd relapse. I stayed at my friend's place for 1-2 days after that relapse so I can deal with the withdrawals.
    4) After 1-2 days at your friends' place, just be out of your place as often as you can. Till at least 1 week if you can
    5) Set up accountability partners and be accountable to him
    6) Physical Stuff: Cold showers, push-ups, take long walks, jogging, weightlift, anything to get rid of your excess energy

    You can do it brother!

    Read as much as possible.

    2. If you are failing over and over the first couple of days.. You are not trying hard enough. Turn OFF the phone. Hide it. Have people call you in someone elses phone until you have gone PMO free for weeks.

    I will advice you few things which I am also following.
    1) try to keep yourself as much busy as possible.
    2) never be alone In room or at place where no people are Around.
    3) visit this site regularly and keep reading others success stories and post your daily progress on this forum.
    4) drink lot of water ,8 to 10 glass daily.
    5) do some exercise and meditation daily.
    6) use internet as less as possible and try to focus on your hobbies and other outdoor activities.
    7) go to bed only when you are tired enough to sleep.
