Hey guys. Hope all of you are doing well. Im 14 days in now after relapsing for quite some time but hope to go on another streak. My message is for the people currently struggling. You guys wonder and ask about all the shortcuts and quick remedies and thats cool, its natural, nobody likes being an addict deep down. But i am here to give you the painful truth. The triggers are everywhere. We live in an era where even the most remote person cannot stay away from these triggers. Unless you buy a cabin and go live in the woods in Alaska. Whether you guy out to the groceries, there's always gonna be a woman in raunchy clothing, whether you're driving there's always gonna be a billboard. I think that 'sex sells' is perhaps the worst thing that happened to the world. Whether you're watching a movie there is definitely going to be a scene in it no matter what. Same goes for tv shows. Im not trying to make you guys lose hope. Im telling you that we need to be careful because we can never completely avoid these triggers, because they're embedded shit-deep into our society. I was just watching the trailer for fast and furious 7 and i got so depressed after seeing a very graphic scene in it. Please dont watch the trailer. Dont. Alright guys. Good luck and stay strong.

Your perfectly right, triggers are every where . But that can not be an excuse to feed your dopamine level, I think it is crucial to concentrate your self on something else when it is happening. The key is to not being absorbed by those triggers, I know it is hard but with the time those triggers that are every where will be more easy to deal with by the time you quit that addiction.

I guess we need to learn not to "chase" a trigger. The big thing is to not intentionally go looking for arousal.

I personally think it's ok to be watching a normal movie, and it there happens to be a sex scene, 30 seconds of arousal is not the end of the world.

The problem is if you go home and masturbate to that scene.

If you watched the trailer, but didn't act on it. ...that's awesome.

You have just slightly trained your brain for a new response when exposed to these triggers.

So true. Rebooting would be easy if we could stick out heads in the sand but that isn't how life works. Rebooting is as much avoiding triggers as it is just fighting the urges brought on by triggers.

Yes, block that porn but if you wanted to block out everything that triggers the urges then you would have to go live in a sensory deprivation chamber or an uninhabited island. Nature created us with the following drives, survival and procreation(aka sex). So naturally we will see an attractive person walking down the street and get a little aroused. The trick is having the self control to not act on it in the destructive manner that is PMO.

Honestly, if it were easy to do, would it really be rewarding? Yes, we all agree it would be awesome if we could kick the habit(s) easily but we would lose that feeling of pride we get when we have a successful streak and/or successfully reboot and manage to stay clean.

Consider the fact that everyone here talks about using this as a chance for self improvement/enrichment. Well guess what. The simple act of discipline that you demonstrate each day that you don't relapse is a day where you grew, improved, enriched yourself. Just by learning and practicing discipline you are gaining and strengthening an extremely useful tool that can be applied in so many parts of daily life.

So yes, it isn't quick and sure isn't easy but it is worth it.
