    hi guys.
I've got anxiety and depression for yrs , but the magnitude of anxiety lately is really bad.
Due to shame/guilt and social awkwardness I quit pmo hardmode (since past 2 years) 88, 30, 35, 42 etc and very recently I relapsed on day 114. I'm sorry this is contrary, but anxiety for me has only been getting worse.
I'm a med student an have exams in a few months. Tho withdrawals affected my studies, I think I'm more prepared than a fourth of my mates, my tests haven't been bad either but I feel so unprepared and restless. I just feel like skiping a session and doing the exams next session. My bp 160/100, 140/80, and yesterday 150/sth (I'm 21 y/o). last wk my kidneys were found to be slightly echogenic. Due to these I took courage and told my parents abt the habit. They are so disappointed that they're beginning to worsen things. I need ur advice should I just tell my dad I want to skip a session. I'd be going back to school after easter and I feel I might just die of anxiety over there.

  2. Hang in there. Try to quit porn and fapping and also avoid p subs. Talk to your parents about your problems if that makes you okay otherwise don't tell them.

Withdrawal time is differ from person to person. My life gets better after I reached 47 days. Everyone's rebooting process is different so take your time

I suspect that pmo is the main cause of your anxiety because my anxiety was skyrocketed when I was around day 2 to day 30. It will disappear eventually so just hang on. Do anything to make you feel better while waiting for the withdrawal to end.

    Best luck to you

I've been using l-theanine, pharm-GABA, licorice root, and CBD. Probably you should not use CBD prior to exams, because it makes me more prone to mistakes.

I suspect that everybody's brain chemistry is different. Some people take these supplements and feel nothing at all, but they help me settle down and roll up my sleeves to keep trying with life.

If I were you, I would seek psychiatric help for the anxiety, regardless of your choice of skipping a session. SSRIs may be able to alleviate of the urges, depression, and anxiety (and hopefully, they’ll prescribe a strong anxiolytic). Depending on the severity of the anxiety, it might be in your best interests to skip a session, even if it hurts you academically/professionally (this can be recovered). But do not do this rashly. Besides, staying away from people who might just make you feel worse is also important as they may contribute to relapse, both in addiction and depression/anxiety. I don’t know specifics about “gap years” between med school years, but perhaps consider a service trip to another (underserved) country. This will likely ease anxiety and will aid in your struggle against porn (presumably, there will be little access to internet, no alone time to PMO, etc).

Also, I've never been to medical school, but it seems that you should not worry about taking a little longer to finish. You might live to be 100 years old, so you don't need to be in such a hurry to finish. IMO Of course I know it is very costly so maybe you can't afford to take too long.

  6. I got anxiety since I was in grade school but I have never took any depressive medicine or seeing therapists. My school life from grade school to high school was messed up.
The point I'm trying to say is I didn't take any medicine to ease my anxiety. Somehow after doing nofap for for a while my anxiety is gone.

I have wondered the same thing. I have only ever been able to abstain long-term once in my life (2009-2011). I think it made my brain chemistry less of a roller coaster ride. Good for you if it makes your problems go away mostly! That is a lot better than taking antidepressants IMO :)

@Harpy eagle , one other suggestion might be fasting. I don't like fasting, but it does seem to help with depression and anxiety and also with the sexual urges. I suspect that mastering your stomach gives a feeling of self-control that percolates into other areas. "I have control of my appetite and I will get control of my circumstances and control of my sex drive too..."

    Still get very anxious sometimes.

Nofap is really just a piece of the puzzle. Diet, sleep, stress and exercise are all going to play a role. I've never been through Med school, but I know a lot of people struggle with it. At the end of the day, you can't help other people when you're run-down.

I'd take advantage of any therapy you might have access too, in addition to scheduling in breaks where you can meditate or work out your stress in another way. Certainly quitting PMO will help, but you can still be seriously anxious on hardmode.
