Anticipate Urges

    One thing I find helps is to anticipate urges, and imagine yourself squashing them.

    Ever watch the Dog Whisperer walk a dog on a leash. He is always ready for the dog to attempt to take off.

    In this analogy, the dog taking off is an urge popping up .....your limbic system trying to take over.

    And you are Cesar Millan ... you are EXPECTING an urge to occur. If you are expecting it, you are ready to jerk the leash at all times.

    I think this is why meditation helps. It makes you better at watching your mind

    Great advice. Need to keep improving on this. Also know your high risk situations so you can either avoid them or are prepared before you get into them. Have a proven method of preoparing for them. If it doesnt work the first time, change it or dont go to that HRS again. Keep changing or avoiding until you succeed.
