    Hi, I'm in my late 40s. Looking back on my life I can honestly say that porn, while easy to get off, has absolutely been a bad influence for me. From reading the stories about "super powers" from NoFap, I am hoping I experience the same soon.

    On April 2nd I relapsed after day 11 because I was experiencing severe "hot flashes" or as I found out "heat waves." When I did it, I actually felt good, not guilty at all and relieved physically in my head (above my neck). I've restarted and have passed day 7 (yesterday). I don't want to cheat, so I only up the count at midnight.
    The 11th day streak before, I did not do enough exercise to avoid the "heat wave." I am now doing some exercise every day to get into the habit.
    I have a counter on my phone titled NOFAP. It's just a day counter. It has helped keep me on track, though I regret relapsing.

    Kind of funny how the brain tricks me to being confident one minute and then giving me a horny feeling the next. Just goes to show me, I need to be very careful.

    Anyways, wanted to say hi.

  2. Hello sir and welcome to NoFap!

    I will warn you now. The fabled "superpowers" are actually just an exaggeration by some members here. For those that don't get a lot of benefits immediately from abstaining or become impatient when their "superpowers" don't come, it can become demotivating.

    Thinking you'll get "superpowers" are, frankly, unrealistic expectations. It's true that members will feel a lot better after reaching a certain number, but please don't expect you'll have, say, women throwing themselves left and right at you just because you've abstained for a month or so.

    Stay clean and good luck!

    The firat time I really tried I relapsed on day 30 or so. Then I fapped for about 10 days. I started again and now I am in day 86 or so. I had sex with wife on day 63 to orgasm.

    Sex was awesome. Hard for penetration. Slow movements. But PE kicked in. However, I did not lose erection.

    Since day 43 or so I seem to be in a flatline. Aside from the sex with wife day. Nothing. No erection. No arousal. etc.

    I'll be reaching day 90 soon. But will probably all tje way to 6 months or 180 days and see if I can feel better like from day 10 to 40 where I felt like a real man.

  4. Hey @ionthemark ,

    I'm just a normal ordinary member. No moderator super powers and no special insite. I share my ESH (Experience, Strength and Hope) of what works for me.

    Just another warm welcome and a heart felt hello. This community has helped me so much.

    What worked for me was "working" it. It took hard work for me to complete a hard reboot (No pmo) for 120 days, then move into a Sex Positive mode.

    First, reading the literature published by NoFap itself along with reading journals.

    Then, doing the work. Writing in my journal and replying to introductions and other's journals.

    Finally, but not least, getting involved with the fellowship. I found it on the forums, but also in people's profiles. The forums tend to be longer posts, where the profiles tend to be more "conversational".

    That is what has worked for me. I like to remind myself that this community was here waiting for me with the lights on when I arrived. Now, I have to do my best to be there when someone comes to the community.

    ---

    One of the ways I got involved with the fellowship was by reading some really great journals. Reading other's stories with their victories and even defeats is a big part of my program.

    Here are just a few journals to start with, you'll find more I'm sure:

    ---
    @Sunshadow - https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?threads/75108/

    ---

    I've found that the bricks that hold this community together are cemented with the support of the members of the fellowship.

    @Mr.Imperfect
    @Toughboy
    @romlel
    @LeoJohn

    So, if you would have found more profiles yourself, why suggest these particular ones as a start? Those relationships started with just saying hello. So, my ESH is that saying hello has kept the fellowship alive for myself.

    Looking forward to your success and in seeing you say hello on these profiles,

    --> L

    Thank you @StopTheMusic, @present2015, @LiquidShoes for the insights. I love the flatline much better than the heat wave. I definitely feel better not fapping. I'm almost done with day 9. I am looking forward to seeing day 14 pass. One day at a time. I subscribed to the nofap newsletter. I am being very cautious with optimism of keeping it down (instead of up).

    13 days have passed... I'm currently processing day 14!!
    My head (above my neck) feels like it's going to explode, like my brain is expanding. This is what happened to me the last time after day 11.
    Is my brain swelling? The sensation is nearly unbearable.

    Going to try a cold shower.

    if cold shower does not work, go for a long walk/run or a long drive.
    good luck.

  8. Hey @ionthemark ,

    I don't think your brain is swelling from not doing pmo.

    But, seriously, don't ignore physical pain. It is possible for the tire on your car to go flat and your stove to stop working on the same day. One has nothing to do with the other.

    So, maybe see a doctor about the headache? Just to be safe.

    And congratulations on the fourteen 24 hours in a rows.

    Thank you @StopTheMusic.

    My experience is that it is my brain causing some discomfort from not doing PMO just as it has caused me some discomfort from staying away from sweets. I could feel a sensation from the back of my head almost jumping for joy upon seeing brownies and trying to avoid eating it. I understand what you're saying about two separate events. But from my experience everything in the body is connected to each other thru the brain and the brain sometimes gives us sensations that we don't want it to like cravings, negative thoughts, and addictions (positive or negative).

    I am so glad that I did NOT relapse yesterday, though it was extremely tempting. I passed 2 whole weeks. When I pass today, I will be at day 15, which is halfway to 30.
    I have a quote, "if I quite now, I'll soon be back to where I started. When I started, I so desperately wanted to be where I am now." Can't remember if I made it up or found it via the Emergency tool here, but I like it.
