I am currently about 65 days in and I seem to be going strong throughout the flatline. I think I learned to stop my brain from thinking and fantasizing and it also appears that I have unlearned to touch myself when I am horny. It appears there has been so much progress since my previous 120 days reboot that ended 5-6 months ago.

The only problem I seem to be facing is insomnia since day one of the second reboot - even though I did not have this issue at all in my first reboot. What is super annoying is that I never had a break in the terms of getting some days of normal sleep...so far it has been 65 nights of waking up at like 4am and being awake for at least an hour but sometimes I would be awake from 4am and would just lay in bed until it is time to go to work. It does not help either that I am facing a lot of stress at work and some of my coworkers think I might be exaggerating the whole issue that is going on (although they also admit situation is not stress free) - they could easily be right, meaning nofap symptoms are killing me.

Normally I would be able to deal with insomnia and temporary stress but I am also studying really hard for a big exam after work for several months now, so last 15 days were really tough on me as fatigue accumulates. Relapse is not even an option as I will rather muscle out through the commando mode than do this all over again. But I could really use some good night`s sleep.

It seems that my brain does not currently produce enough chemicals to maintain sleep; my arousal is also at a low level.

Sorry for the rant but this helps me vent a little.

p.s. working out does not really help.

this happens to me too, never gone 65 nights, but a month easy. One thing that kind of helps is mediation. Wasn't big on it before but I tried it, it help me. All the best.

You are not alone. I might be one of the hardest cases. I had severe insomnia for months. I would only sleep 3 hours / night. And I still wake up at night. But it has improved a lot. And this is after 16 months.

Never had to deal with insomnia or mental symptoms before.

    1) Make sure you are not exposing yourself to blue light when the sun goes down, either by wearing glasses that completely block that spectrum of light, using screen filters, or just not using electronics after that time.

    2) Make sure you are getting up at a consistent, good time every morning. Try to get sun and move your body soon after waking up.

    3) Make sure your room is cool and dark enough.

    4) Cut off food and liquid a few hours before bed.

    4) Practice mindfulness meditation. Try the Headspace app. If you pay you could also use their two sleep meditations, one of which is for falling back to sleep.

Hope you find relief soon. :) Stay the course! Don't give up what you've worked so hard to achieve!

Well sir, I could use some of your insight. I am curious about a few things:
    - Did you have stress issues in your private life or work during recovery?
    - Do you think your actual insomnia was due to nofap alone (i.e. you were wild during you PMO times) or there could be some other reason?
    - Did the worst part of insomnia go on its own or is it because of something you did (meditation, etc.)?
    - How long did it take you to get entire night of sleep?

As far as I am concerned, I never went crazy on PMO but I used to fap daily since 12ish and now I am 30. I really hope that I will get some sleep soon

I downloaded the app and will check it out later today. It appears that meditation is the only thing that I am not currently doing to improve. It should also help me manage stress

I am still far from recovered at 16 months.

    - I had no stress issues. Dude, what experience is beyond imagination and can not be caused by stress in the world. Pain in all forms, insomnia, fatigue, depression, anxiety, sex dreams, wet dreams, shaking, bloating, cracking joints, tensed up muscles in all my body and more fun stuff, no memory and focus.

    - Insomnia started out of nowhere. I think I PMOd so much that my brain shut down completely at some point.

    - I work out, go for walks, tried to go to sleep early ( before 11 PM), get rest, eat healthy.

    - I still cant get an entire night of sleep after 16 months.

The 10% Happier App might have a sleep related meditation that's free.

ps work out realmente no ayuda. [/ QUOTE]

I had terrible case of insomnia for 4 months being in hardmode, not sleeping for 3 days in a row etc. until shutting down. What has helped me, was going on 10 days hike in nature. Walking 10-12 hours daily with 10 kg backpack (30-40 km daily) did miracles for my sleep pattern. I was so exhausted each night, I fell asleep instantly and wake up after 8-9 hours of sleep. It's hard, but it works better then any sleeping supplements I've ever taken.

I also tried daily exercising before going on a hike, but didn't help me with insomnia.

I've struggled with sleep for most of my life, it was hell in my teenage years.. anyway

I have found a no technology a good few hours before bed policy helpful as is candle light.. dimmed or low light at least an hour before bed.

Also after dinner or before i spend a few hours in low light I might have a warm non caffeinated tea out in the garden and do a bit of meditation.

I have to mention the best sleeps Ive had for years and a reboot in itself at the time was spent in nature in a friends yurt.. during those few weeks i was soon falling asleep early and waking up at first light with the birds.. (the type with wings btw!)
No alarm clocks needed. I felt very refreshed during my time there... washing in the spring collecting firewood etc.. this was back in Nov 2017..
I'm due to spend some time there in May.. and looking forward to it.

I was just curious, did you manage to storm through reboot but you are still having insomnia as a PAWS? Or you are still rebooting?

Yes, I have tried melatonin. The thing is I am having no problems falling asleep but maintaining sleep throughout the night. So when I use melatonin I just fall asleep somewhat faster but would still wake up during the night anyway. I tried taking it during the night again but it does not help so much after I wake up

I have this insomnia issue and it is really bothering me. I'm sure that it is caused by PMO and it is one of the side effects... you said about melatonin. Could you please give some information about this to me? I think that my sleep problem is related to this!

  17. How is everyone’s sleep now? I find my mind is a bit active when I want to go asleep, I have trouble falling asleep and have done for years. Last night though I had this weird half awake half asleep like it felt like I didn’t sleep at all because I felt I was tossing and turning but I remember dreaming different dreams?

My sleep initially covered after about 2 months of insomnia. It was all fine until I relapsed and then I had insomnia all over. As I began with more intensive workouts (and some time passed) it has started to improve.

If you are still having insomnia issues you are probably dopamine deficient. Avoid melatonine, which according to some studies inhibits dopamine release. Aside from workouts, you might want to try L-Tyrosine since it is an amino acid that is a building block for dopamine. Meditation also helps a lot (releases dopamine and according to some studies positively changes your brain).
