I just got massively tempted by an obviously fake profile of a random young woman adding me on facebook. Obvious fake but her photos were really hot and they were meant to be that way - to seduce. A big trigger for me.

How do you guys deal with facebook intrusions like that? (Attractive facebook friends' photos are part of this too.)

Ask yourself whether you really need to be on Facebook. I didn't realise how caught up I was in that world until I deleted my profile: far less time wasted "browsing" on there.

If you do need to be on it, be really strict with yourself and only log on for a specific reason.

I never add people I don't know, I don't think facebook is a way to know "new people" even if it's a sexy girl, it is not the same as talking face to face. And of course facebook is full of crap, I used to log in every 10 minutes on my phone y wasted a lot of time in there, I decided do delete the app, and now I only use it on my pc and once a day, some days I just forget to use it

I agree. But I didn't add her - she/it added me. And I was fool enough to examine its profile in more detail.

I suppose I'm a facebook addict as well. Facebook has never really been a problem for my PMO addiction before - so I never really had a problem until earlier today.

Relax, analize if it is really important to you, you'll find that it's just another obstacle in the process and that's why we're here.To discuss about stuff like this

I deactivate my facebook just over a year ago and have never considered going back permanently. (I might go back just download my photos and then delete it for good, hence the permanently). Like goa said, do you really need it? Maybe its worth deactivating it with plans to reactivate in a week or two and see what you think then?

As for the girl, you say its obviously fake, but you still looked and got tempted anyway. Just be mindful when browsing, not just fb, but the internet in general, and be ready to click away from any potential triggers. Easier said than done, I know, but being aware that you may come across a trigger at any moment is an incredibly useful technique.

Such a helpful post for me!

I too have used Facebook for sexual stimulation. Currently, I simply maintain the rule that I don't look at actual porn and I don't masturbate ever, at all.

The hot chicks on Facebook are pretty much a constant though. . .more or less.

So getting rid of my use of that social network has likely got to go. . .

    One step at a time.

Today I am grateful that I am not engaging in PMO.

This is inquiry of yours represents next steps!

    Thank you.

I'm pretty invisible on facebook... comes with being a loser I guess. Wouldn't make any difference if I deleted my profile. Anyway... the fake profile is probably some sweaty bozo sitting behind a laptop trying to drive you to a webcam or porn site to make money off you. It's not an actual woman. It's like the late night infomercial with women waiting by the phone for your call. It's an illusion.

Unfortunately for me, facebook is one of the only real ways I keep in touch with friends, family, and importantly, my girlfriend back home.

Those are good words of advice. It's about being eer ready and vigilant.

Thanks for saying that. That's obviously true - but in the moment, we delude ourselves in this porn fantasy that maybe there really are women out there freely willing to indulge our depravity.

Unless you have a need for Facebook, a real need, delete it! When it was new on the net, I saw how people with few real friends, redefined the word "friend". I saw a new definition for friend my kids had. I hated the concept.
It's an incredible waste of time. Imagine what you could be doing if you got out of the habit of Facebook and P.

Yeah Facebook is a huge time waster and a bastard gateway for P. As with anywhere on the Internet, you're always one click away from a big trigger. I still get on Facebook every now and again to check my messages but I don't read anyone's wall posts because it's a) addictive b) motivation-draining idle time c) depressingly fake how everyone pretends their lives are spotless. So little of it is genuine, including the crap that your real friends post on it :)

Sometimes the only way to win the game is to stop playing it.

    1. Facebook is probably the worse social media of all, to keep it short, you gain nothing looking at your friends children birthday. I deactivaed mine, start a new one only used to auto login certain sites (since its faster using FB account)
    2. Instagram is also a waste, but I found a solution by making a second account and use it as ur primary, where I only follow certain topic or people im intersted (Football team, sports, interior design ideas, etc) (avoid attractive women)
    3. Youtube you will probably find most triggers from youtube because the content are so vast. THat is why I avoid lifestyle videos or content that will likely feature how naked bikini women in yachts.

Some religion does have a point after all why you should limit the dirty imaginations, as you get older, you can understand the fundementals of certain religion. I think NoFap is essentially a cult, a religion, without a god. I think if you put yourself into that mindset, it will help you control or alter your decision making on what you chooose to hear, see or say.

To me personally, the bottom line for this situation is to rid yourself of any and all temptation if you TRULY want to win this battle. If facebook is a temptation for you, get rid of it. Post that you're deactivating it, or deleting it if necessary, and leave an email address, mailing address, and/or phone number, leave it up for a LITTLE while, then either delete your account or deactivate it. Facebook is not essential for life, so if you need to take drastic action to improve and better yourself, DO IT!!! There's nothing to lose and everything to gain, especially if you're married or in a relationship, and most importantly if you're a Christian! I deactivated mine because even liking simply 80's pages or video game pages, that still brings major temptation for me a lot of the time! Its obviously not as tempting as liking a model type fb page, but its still dangerous and after discussing it with my wife, I just deactivated my account. I personally didn't even post that I was going to do so, I just did it because my relationship with the Lord and with my wife is infinitely more important that anything I could gain from fb.

    Just my two cents worth.

Same problem here. I don't frequent porn sites, but a quick look on erotic images from fake profiles on facebook or whereever, I can't resist.

As others pointed out, similar problems arise when browsing instagram and youtube. But generally, the temptations and triggers are everywhere on the internet.

For some, it might be feasible to abstain from facebook (or whatever is causing the issue). And I admire those who manage to do that. Indeed, my time on facebook and other sites is mostly about passivity and procrastination - if I could rid myself of that, I would be so happy.

However, I don't want to set unrealistic goals for me. So, for Facebook in particular, it must be enough to unfollow posts that trigger me and keep it as clean as I can.
