My question is in the title. I'm looking for actual experiences here.

  2. Yes, definitely. It's all mental for me. Binge eating only brings bad emotions and negatives feelings, and I seek for the comfort and pleasure PMO brings to balance it. My worst urges definitely were linked to poor eating choices, often resulting in binges. Hope that helps, ask if you wan to know more insightly!

EDIT: Um yeah, IGY's right. I merely give my opinion here based on my personal experience. I haven't been diagnosed but I have had other disorders so I considered it as such.

I would say that the answer to this depends on numerous factors. For example, are you diagnosed with bulimia or binge eating disorder. Are your binges 'clinical' or are you talking merely about overeating and/or gluttony? Furthermore, why do you binge and is that sometimes the same reason you may masturbate to pornography?

I don't have any eating disorders that I'm aware of. I don't exactly 'seek out' junk food like I would with pornography. It's just about access. I'm usually quite healthy with what I eat. But the moment some junk food becomes 'available' in the house, I tend to over-eat. This isn't the same as my pornography addiction, but I admit I see a few similarities.

In fact, this has reduced a great deal ever since I quit porn. But the binge eating happened again a few days ago and I felt depressed after. I actually considered resetting my counter. But I felt it wasn't 'addictive behaviour' and it was nowhere near the pain of a relapse. I feel back to normal now.

Anyway, thanks for your responses :)

With the extra information in post #4, I would say that the answer to your question - Does binge eating set you back during a reboot? - is definitely NO! This is coming from someone with a former (diagnosed) binge eating disorder.

  6. For me, yes. "Binge eating" (especially lots of sweets) is pretty much similar to PMOing. Both are ways to escape from reality. They are giving us pleasant feelings, but only for a short time.

Freedom Flight, you are talking about 'comfort eating', not "binge eating" which has very specific clinical criteria. Easily confused. There are no pleasant feelings from true "binge eating".

  8. That's why I said "for a short time". After that, you feel very bad. Actually, you already feel bad during binge eating, but it is like "suppressing the pain".

Lol I just created an account that I will most likely never use but only because it is absolutely important to me to say NO. Why the hell are other people saying yes it will. If you binge eat then beat off, you have a fucking problem that pertains to you.. not this guy/kid. I just started nofap and I'm on day 22 or 23.. kinda loss count but what I'm trying to say is NO it will not affect you. If that's the case and it is a way to escape reality then reading a fucking book or watching tv or plying PlayStation would kill your streaks because they are ways of escaping reality. It's not escaping reality that fucks up your streak it is releasing your manly hormones and activating the certain receptors (I think they are called) in your brain while you do it. It's not the pleasure hormone or dopamine because then you would be killing your streaks by doing anything fun like laughing with your friends or even watching a cool movie. I know I don't sound smart or like I don't know what I am talking about but trust me I do. I'm prolly just not using the right/big words that everyone else uses. I mean honeslty.. logically think about it. You are channelling certain receptors in your brain not the whole reward system or dopamine in general because that would mean don't have fun at all throughout your whole reboot. It's counteracting. If that was the case you would basically be saying deprive yourself of pleasure and happiness like living in a fucking whole for 3 months then come out and see how exciting the world is.. like no dumbass those certain pork induce receptors are being overly excited and used when using porn to the point where everything else is less exciting and more numb. My point is that it is actually a good thing. It's teaching your body to actually "get off" to other things and be happy to and with other things rather than porn. It's a healing process. I would say like physical therapy for your brain because your teaching it different ways to be happy

I would definitely not consider this worthy of a relapse.

Practically all of us joining this forum is addicted to PMO. The main reason that many of us are addicted to PMO is because we generally have low self control.

Does this mean we have given into PMO just because we we gave into an urge to do something we know isn't best for us? My answer is "no".

Maybe you need to develop a stronger sense of self discipline. I know I can GREATLY use more self discipline in my life. I think learning how to control the undisciplined side of me would help my urges to PMO. Yet, if I give into binge eating or maybe drinking excessively, I would never consider that a relapse needing me to reset my counter.
