After 15 years of near constant PMO, I've gone 10 days free. It was really a great 10 days, without the guilt, shame, and darkness of it. I really didn't miss it most of the time.

I did just give in to an urge last night. From day 6 and onward, the nightly struggles got harder, as I became more sensitized. Even pictures of girls on a dating app became nearly irresistible, and all I could think about was sex with a real girl now that PMO wasn't an option.

Overall it was a great first climb. I personally don't believe in the word relapse. It sounds like this sad depressing complete starting over from the beginning. If a mountain climber climbs 25% of the mountain, and then stops to rest, is he suddenly back at the bottom?

The effort I gave doesn't disappear, I am a stronger more healthy person as a result. I don't lose my progress unless I give up forever. I plan to take a small breather, and then start the climb again. For my first effort ever, 10 days is pretty good. I didn't even know if I could do 3.

What are your thoughts on dealing with urges, especially in the first 30 days? I didn't really want to MO, but I was drawn toward girls in any form the more I became sensitized, which is the idea I guess.

  2. 10 days is great for a first time effort. I probably did 2 or 3 my first time out. Go back at it and hopefully youll go to 30 and beyond. Urges are a huge issue. I used to give in all the time, but a few things really helped me. The first is i just got fed up. I was sick of not being in control and i wanted to be free of my addiction. The second (i mentioned this in another post), is i realised that urges are lies. Its your body telling you you want something that you dont really want. Once i realized that it was easier to say "why should i listen to lies" and ignore them. Lastly, i keep reminding myself of my motivations and using this website for inspiration and support.

"The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be"

Oh, and one more thing. Remember that in the end it all comes down to you. Sometimes we feel helpless and down like we have no choice, but there is always a choice. Urges can do nothing to us unless we choose to give in. You are in control of your own success or failure, no one is forcing you to masturbate. When i realized this, it helped me see things from a different perspective. Hope this helps. Good luck.

My situation is almost same as yours. I am doing pmo for 15 years regularly. After I got to know the bad effects of this my first climb was upto 17 days then after every 3 4 days I am doing pmo. But I have managed to stop this for now, to deal with the strong urges after seeing hot pics of girls I just start to excersice.
For the past 15 years our brain and body have become used to release the energy almost every day so when you stop if suddenly your brain starts playing tricks with that's why you need to find some other ways to release this energy, this tension.

Like every habit, it has to be changed step by step. 10 days this time, next time 20 15, or even 100. It's in your hand. Literally.
Congrats on the 10 days, relapse happens to everybody, we ' ve all been there. You have the right mindset using the mountain metaphor,(i dont know if metaphor is the right word here, not native english speaker), it means you can control your thoughts. So try to view it as a step by step journey, just like adding more weight to the bar every week, add more time. Dating apps are addicting as well. And easy. Reminds you of anything?
For me going out and hitting on chicks is way better. Anything that makes us comfortable might prove damaging, so keep that in mind!

Next time you will do 20 days. 100% ! I'm betting on you pal
