Get rid of that stuff. You wont need it anymore. Think of it like it resembles your past. You gotta throw this past away

  2. Yeah, I have to agree with the majority consensus here: Get rid of your stuff, no matter how marvelous the pictures are. I had quite a few DVDs filled up with some of the most lavish artistic nude photography of GORGEOUS models from Russia, Ukraine, and other regions. They were my pride and joy, and compiling that material took many months. Still, I didn't hesitate to scratch those up and toss it in the dumpster. Why? They're all dangerous triggers for relapse.

    This is terrible advise.
Let's hope your sexual relationships are no longer 'handy". Get real. Destroy the glossies and pixels.

Although it's scary, you won't regret it.

Thanks everyone. I was not expecting so many responses. I obviously know what I have to do. It will be difficult, but that is what I have do to start a new healthy life.

Wow, @Rocketman10 - this is EASILY the worst advice on this post and I can't think of much worse advice to give.

I feel like I'm kinda just falling in line with most everyone else here, but I'll add my two cents anyway, just for the halibut. So I understand that having collected these things for so long could definitely make you feel like you're seriously losing part of who you are with getting completely rid of it all, but trust me when I say that if your heart is in quitting all of this stuff, you will feel such an enormous relief that its all gone. Yes, it WILL be tough actually getting rid of it, but if you take a seriously genuine neutral look at your life kind of from outside, I think you'll really see how all of this is really holding you back. Anything, and I mean ANYTHING that presents ANY kind of temptation to you in this area needs to be dropped like a bad habit. Get rid of it, and completely rid of it. Don't just throw it in your garbage can in your kitchen, tie everything up in plastic bags throw it all away in a public dumpster so you won't be tempted to go back in pick it up "one last time" to have a goodbye look.

Actually I can see everyone’s point to ditching the porn BUT you need to do it on ur own terms when u are ready. I think destroying a long fought collection cold turkey can make u regret it and spend ur time seeking them out again and risk going deeper into ur perversions.. I would say make it virtually (but not impossible) to reach again but have enough layers to get to it that by the time u do u may ha w snapped out of it. Don’t laugh but my parents did that with my blanket when I was 5. I didnt freak out cause I knew it was there if I needed it but eventually I became so used to without it I could get rid of it on my own free will

Yes, absolutely yes. Delete it, burn it, do whatever you need to do to remove it from existence.

  10. Yes its painful to get rid of the stash, but accepting that is part of the process of getting clean. Its going to be emotional, but thats not a bad thing, its a good thing, because those emotions will pass.

But if we decide to just ignore them and go back to the porn, then we never deal with those emotions that are holding us back and we can never start to get better.

I never said to ignore them, but rather approach this with a little more caution and common sense. Hardcore drug addicts cannot go cold turkey they must taper off as I think hardcore porn addicts must. Deleting and destroying all porn that has been collected over a long period isn’t a wise decision. Take this from experience learned as well as being a part of. The brief moment of clarity u have in destroying these things is brief and fleeting, unless u are willing to destroy all avenues of technology that created the collection in the first place u WILL go back to collecting again and during ur hunt u run the very high risk of finding new and potential harmful escalations that u didn’t have before. Tread carefully in this decision to delete and destroy.

I did delete my personal porn collection that I have had since I was saving stuff on compact disks still. Heck, I might have even saved Kilobyte sized photos on floppy disks back in the day . I still do have some magazines. They are locked up in a file cabinet for now, but they might be going to the recycle bin soon. I have some old posters since I was a tennager of model woman. They are old and falling apart, so have to be recycled too.

Hey i was wrong on my reply telling you to hold on. i was using my own weakness to reply to you. i must say you are on the right track getting rid of it all. again i was not thinking clearly.

  15. I really can't go with you on this. There is no harm in going cold turkey on porn.

The only trauma that addicts have to deal with is the one that got them to using it in the first place. That may require therapy, group, or some form of outside help. In my opinion, the reason why addicts escalate is because they don't get help, and they say things like 'one more time won't hurt' or 'I'm not an addict, I just like to collect.' These little white lies get into their system and soon enough they're at it with a new collection! And when that new collection doesn't do it for them anymore they move onto the harder stuff. It doesn't have anything to do with cutting off porn, but rather, staying with it.

  16. Denbert,

I was in your shoes some two years ago on some March Sunday spending the majority of the afternoon pondering what to do. First I reduced my 1TB stash to around 600MB. Then without much thought I took that 600MB folder put it in the Recycling Bin and right clicked emptying the bin. That was the end of it. There was remorse and regret as it took some +10 years to accumulate but I realized it was some valuable time wasted accumulating that collection. I moved on and never looked back. Once you pull that trigger you will never be the same all for the better.

Then get rid of everything including the tech u have that made it all possible. Every device, every computer, every cable station u ever owned. If u have to go to such extremes cold turkey on the destruction of ur porn then to truest be rid of temptation is to remove the wAys of viewing it or saving it.

You know, it's better if you don't throw it out BUT never touch / look at it ever again
    than
throwing everything out but somewhere down the road you start collecting again.

Just depends on how you deal with yourself. You know yourself best, so just pick which decision to do. If you do decide on keeping it but not looking at it ever again, the next question is what would you do with it?

  20. Damn that avatar of yours... Haha... Muten Roshi... Really!!! Haha...
