    Hey everyone,

    Brief overview for now:

I'm 30 years old and have had PMO problems for about 15 years. This has seriously effected my life. I didn't realize PMO was the cause until about 5 years ago. I have tried to reboot countless times in the past 5 yearsbut have never made it past 20 days. My marriage has ended as a result of PMO and other health complications it has brought along the way, mainly extreme fatigue due to lack of sleep and depression, mood swings, etc. Here I am again trying to quit PMO for good. This time I'm trying a few new things: Cold showers when I get urges, going to sleep early (trying to avoid the 2nd wind), getting up at the same time every day, weight lifting. I have blocked porn on all my computers and wish I could do so on my phone as well but I haven't found anything good for Android to block porn sites. I have been on a supplement regime for a while and have been seeing a naturopath. I recently found out I have Lyme disease as well which my doctors think is contributing to the fatigue and weakening my immune system/adrenal glands. I have also developed several food allergies in the past couple of years.

My situation is like a big circle because my trigger for the past several years is fatigue...I'm constantly fatigued so my body seems to be looking for that dopamine surge to get some energy.

Can anyone recommend a good app to block porn sites on your Android phone...note my phone is factory stock.

I can only hope I can make it through this! Any support, encouragement or suggestions are welcome!

    Thanks,

    Welcome thejoker.

There are hardware solutions such as getting a router that specifically blocks certain material, but that doesn't help if you just switch to your phone's data plan. I've heard some generally positive reviews about covenant eyes. Other options I've looked at are dumbing down your smart phone (basically removing/blocking apps that can access the internet either permanently or during certain time intervals) and making a rule for yourself not to take the phone into your bedroom or bathroom.

    Good luck!

  3. Hi. Welcome to forum!

Make sure you create a personal journal thread in Reboot Logs section and blog there on a regular basis. As well as just generally be active participant in various forum discussions. I recommend this to everybody new here because it's the major thing that helped me when I was first starting. Just lurking on forums, reading and learning is great. But it usually is so much more powerful to engage. It helps to keep us motivated and accountable when we are active part of community. And keeps this in front of our minds so we don't forget about importance of it and slip away in our old habits. Sharing is also therapeutic. This is a major reason why AA meetings work so good. But that was developed before internet era. These days we can get most of the same benefits online through communities like this. So don't underestimate the power of active participation.

I would also like to suggest you to look into mindfulness meditation. It has helped me personally tremendously to learn how to deal with urges and triggers. It takes a while to get good at it and notice results, so you need to be consistent with it, but once you do it's very powerful. It has been used by sages for thousands of years to deal with various issues of the mind. And in recent decades the science is also catching up to what ancient sages have know for centuries. Meditation these days are widely used as very effective tool by psychologists for treating addiction and by neurologists for supporting recovery of the brain. It is a great exercise for the brain the same way as jogging is great exercise for the body. Check out this Ted talk, it gives a good idea of what's it about when it comes to philosophy. As far as practical side of it there is this awesome smartphone app called Headspace for guided meditations to get you started.

Wish you lot's of strength and success in your reboot journey!
