I just thought I'd share the experience of my first ever wet dream, literally, in my whole life. It's been 44 days since I used porn or masturbated. Life had it's ups and downs but was going reasonably well.

Around 4 o'clock this morning, I woke up from an orgasm. My first after 6 weeks. In another world, I would have been pleased with this, thinking my body is just naturally releasing sexual energy (I don't have a girlfriend). Not to mention, it was an extremely pleasurable experience. But the bad thing about this was that it was a pornographic dream. It was graphic in nature, and I still can't get certain images out of my head. To make things worse, after I went back to sleep, I had nightmares about urges followed by relapse. I'm guessing this was a manifestation of the chaser effect. By the time I woke up, my mind was already planning on starting my reboot all over again. I can't say how much of a relief it was to realise that I hadn't relapsed intentionally.

After all this, today has been a slow day. My mind feels scattered and my thought processes are a lot slower. This is probably due to the first dopamine overload after weeks of recovery. I still don't have any major urges, and I can easily handle the ones that do come by. Does this set back my recovery? It's impossible to tell. But even if it does, I have come far enough to bounce back and be 'back to normal' in a couple of days.

Thanks for reading :) Feel free to share your own experiences below.

Hi! I'm on day 23 and also never had a wet dream, but I'm really hoping to have one. Last week I had 4 sexual dream in which 2 of them I came in the dream which is amazing since I see sexual dreams about 4 times a year and never come in them.

There are two sides to this. Some say that imagination and dreams aren't harmful to the recovery process, because we can't imagine so vividly and get those dopamine highs and lows as with porn. And then there is yes imaging and fantasizing is the same as or nearly the same thing as watching porn. I personally don't think the last one is true, because guys think about sex all the time. There isn't a single one who has recovered from porn and masturbation addiction without having any fantasies during. I can tell you that I had ED and concentration problem and that's why I started this and already day 23 I get a lot more morning woods, random erections, sexual dreams and my dick stays up pointing at 10 o'clock when I stand and doesn't go flaccid as it used to and I still imagine sex and play with my cock (not masturbate) so I don't think dreaming and imaging can be that bad :)

I wouldn't worry. A dream is a dream and there nothing you can do about it. There are some interesting dream research books out there which can help you control your dreams but at the end of the day I would just accept as a dream whether good or bad. Pleasurable or not. It something you have no control over.

I generally have less energy and motivation after a wet dream. My voice becomes more faint too, like it was before I started NoFap. The dramatic decrease of testosterone levels feels very real in those moments.

I had a WD on Sunday night, and yes like you, Monday felt slow like I had partially relapsed or something. However today, which is Wednesday, things are pretty much back to normal (voice is still a little bit higher and less confident, but it comes back within a couple days). The chaser effect is also something that is very important to look out for. Your sexual drive will be up in the next couple of days, but be on guard. There's absolutely nothing you can do about them; let your body do it's thing.

    Cheers!

i had a sensual dream in the 30-40 day range as well, but I didn't orgasm... and since then, I haven't had any, and I don't want to, for the very reason that it makes you feel like you relapsed. I read or heard or was made aware somewhere (can't remember exactly where) that you can somewhat control your wet dreams, and for me if I have to take a leak, and am too lazy, I drive my man into the mattress and then I fall asleep with an erection, and then I unconsciously start dreaming of pleasure, and then comes the orgasm, and so far since I learned this I haven't had a WD... just my two cents, and sorry, its really hard to explain...

I hate the wet dreams, Impacts me a lot. My last few streaks have been getting longer and longer with time. The last few were 30 days, 38 days, than I just ended a 19 day last night. I went out of my usual habit and ate a papaya/banana smoothie with maca root and ashwanganda powder which are both aphrodisiac foods. I usually have this for breakfast but last night I did for dinner at 7:30pm because it was a late dinner so I wanted to eat light, big mistake. I had a raging hard on all night long and ended up on my stomach some how, resulting in an end to that streak... Really felt like shit today. Lesson learned, moving on!

So many people here refuse to admit that wet dreams are negative, and state that they are perfectly natural. Yes they are natural for a recovering PMO addict, but not for someone who never had this addiction to begin with. Not for the normal situation.

It is normal for a recovering heroin addict to have withdrawal symptoms, but not normal for someone who never did heroin to have those symptoms.

Haha, what a coincidence. I had my first wet dream last night as well. Didn't set me back at all, apart from the time it took to wash my clothes. ._. Having said that, I don't believe it affects anything. NoFap's more about breaking the habit of PMO; one dream won't matter. :)

As for what Lemonquack said, if you're still worried about it, or at a loss of what to do, look into "lucid dreams". It's such an interesting topic as you can do pretty much anything in your dreams, and it will help prevent sexual dreams from ever happening.

    Good luck to you. :)

I'm over 30 and I've never had a wet dream. Since starting nofap I'm having nightmares for some reason. I don't remember having dreams hardly at all until now. I'm also waking up multiple times in the night without nightmares or waking up early and remembering a nightmare.
