I'm curious how many other people have a habit in their lives of avoiding difficult things, avoiding challenges, and instead seeking easy to get pleasure and instant gratification.

I know I do. In all areas of my life. Not always the case, but I notice a pattern of it with exercise, eating right, work, school, relationships, etc.

I'm starting to think I need to attack that head on. To seek out challenges and difficult things and delay easy to achieve pleasures.

For example: doing a challenging exercise class, reading challenging books, watching challenging movies, finishing difficult projects, etc.

Any thoughts or insight from your own lives and experience recovering from PMO?

Hey man, if you trying to stop procrastinating, then I highly recommend Brian Tracy's Eat that Frog!

It is a short read and easy to apply. The best way to stop obsessing about your dick is to start focusing on something else, at least that is what I'm trying to do.

Eat That Frog is great stuff.. I have a google play trial right now and have been listening to some Tracy on there. Currently listening to The Miracle of Self-Discipline. His stuff is gold!

    Delayed Gratification

I suck at delayed gratification. You can read or listen to all the self-improvement stuff in the world, but none of it will really help unless you put it into practice.

Self-discipline is the key to building habits of success in life. Without self-discipline, nothing worthy can be accomplished.

I suppose it is a learned skill. Practice makes perfect.

Yes.. Do stuff you find hard and stuff you try to avoid. Once you see you've gotten a job well-done you'll feel extremely satisfied. I have only just tried that yesterday and it's an amazing feeling. It's only the start that's hard, after that it gets a lot easier.

Yup, the desire for instant gratification is a problem I have, which is one of the reasons why I ended with pmo. It's difficult to try and avoid it. I think my problem is stressing out at a demanding work and other things.

I put a big portion of my energy and focus on it that I become worn out when I get home. The other problems with me are that I have some memory rention issues and learning difficulties when I'm in my anxious states. You can imagine managers and coworkers being somewhat annoyed at times. I understand they can't cater to me.

There are times that I don't want to think or do much when i get home. I can't even enjoy a bit of video gaming as i find some of the rules and reaction requirements too much to grasp. I do try sometimes.

I know, it's not a good excuse for me to not try other things out and there are people in tougher situations, somehow they manage.

I might check out those resources you guys mentioned. Thanks.
