    Hello,

I'm trying to quit PMO and an important issue is falling asleep. As far as I'm concerned, I was used to fall asleep thinking about my sexual desires or after fapping. And now, it's taking me hours to close my eyes...

Would you have any advice regarding this issue?

  2. I would find a good book and read, they work great for relaxing and sleeping.

I have the same question! I've used P,M, and fantasy to fall asleep for over 20 years. I have bouts of depressive thoughts and anxiety at night if I don't "numb" myself, so I've used this as a coping mechanism. Hoping to see good ideas in this thread!

That's a good idea! Nonetheless I'm not keen on reading novels, but rather Meditations from Descartes or the latest OECD studies, which doesn't help haha.

I can definitely relate to you, I'm also having a depression and a lot of anxiety. I sincerly wish you to get better. Stay strong!

I also relate. The only i have found is chess and reading. Sometimes making plans on building a better life. However sometimes this gets my brain going.

Yep Turn off all technology an hour before bed to avoid blue light exposure and meditate. like to listen to meditation music and lie down and clear my mind. Some great meditation tracks on youtube. At the very least it allows your to rest your mind. Good luck

I feel you haha, it first starts thinking about which classes to attend the next semester and I end up planning my retirement at 2am. Gonna try chess.

I've never thought about meditation, sounds great! Would you recommend any kind of meditation or any tracks? Thank you, by the way well done for your 15 days!

  8. It’s bloody hard mate. The insomnia comes and goes I tell you. I’ve had it on and off over this attempt at recovery but beforehand had it near enough constantly for many years. It has got better though.

That's nice to hear you, and everyone in general, get better when quitting PM. It's motivating.

Thank you all for your help and support by the way!

I had a habit of edging before the sleep and rarely could fall asleep without edging. I guess it helped me to relax. When I abstained from PMO I learned to 'shut my brain off'. I just close my eyes and don't think about anything for few minutes and usually fell asleep soon.

Getting in a solid, consistent exercise routine in might be helpful. Your brain makes feel-good chemicals when and after you exercise, plus the higher energy expenditure makes you sleepier at bed time. Regular exercise definitely helps with PMO cravings too.
Working on ANY of these factors will help you get to sleep easier:
    Strength
    Stamina
    Flexibility
    Balance
    Nutrition
    Hydration
Good luck with your streak! Your mind is stronger than you think it is. Just harness the willpower.

Thanks, I will try that. I suppose after meditation it will be easier. Congrats for abstaining 1 year!

Thank you very much! Wow nice that you have almost left it.

Good idea! How do you fit that in your day? School and homeworks takes me a lot of my time, so I've never really thought about exercice.
You're right, my will has been harnessed by my desires for so long to do PM. I have now to take it back and stop giving in.

Didn't know him at all. I will try, sounds relaxing!
