Identity shift- my intro

Discussion in 'New to NoFap' started by Deleted Account, Jul 23, 2018.

  1. Hello everyone,

I'm new to this site. I've been trying to stop porn use for 10 years, and I've realized that I need to take my effort to the next level. When I've achieved difficult things in the past, it's because my identity allowed me to. I'm embarking on an identity shift. I'm going to construct my life the way I want it to be. I'm going to find an accountability partner and I'm going to make NoFap a part of my very being.

I'm an accountant, so a huge portion of my day is on a computer just due to how I earn my living. I also use a computer for light entertainment while eating meals, either alone or with my wife. Sex is one area of life that computers should NEVER become intertwined with. Our brains can't handle that kind of dopamine healthily. We must not allow computers to infiltrate the most intimate part of what makes us human. We need to sexually heal in order to live a balanced life that's fulfilling sexually and socially. The end game is, ironically, to achieve more sexual pleasure (and all other kinds of pleasure) via abstaining from it. We just need to do it in a way that our brains can healthily handle.

I know I'm using a computer to preach about staying away from computers. But using computers to network with a community for support in order to re-balance our lives is a stellar use for them. Using them for digital images of naked women is totally un-stellar of a use for them.

I'm looking for an accountability partner, so hit me up!! thanks for reading

  2. Welcome. I joined yesterday and have a similar story. I thought I was alone in this challenge and the stories on this site are amazing. I never realized how many guys suffer with this like me.

I would be glad to be part of your support group here. I work for a software company and use the computer and travel all the time.

There are so many triggers to catch you.

Would you like to stay in contact and message to stay on track?

I’m in my 40’s, married and addicted. Live in Southern California. Working hard to break this habit. It won’t be easy. I have been doing this for years and have many triggers that push me to PMO.

Feel free to message me directly.

  3. we're both married and a little bit older. and we've both been struggling hard to achieve this. I think our support would be good for each other. I don't know how to message someone directly yet, as I've only bee non this site for a couple hours. let me know if you figure it out lol

  4. I think you click on the persons name and start a direct conversation. I’m still figuring this site out as well.
