Yes! *fist pump* About 5 months, two long streaks and probably 10 attempts later, I've finally reached the promised land. 90 days done! I can hardly believe it. Thanks to the nofap and ybop websites for helping me throughout this journey.

Usually this is where people talk about their background, their strategies, benefits and where to next, so I'll go ahead and do the same. Well, except for the strategies and benefits since I've talked about that already in my journal.

About my background: I'm a single guy in my early 40s. Never married. My last somewhat serious relationship was several years ago. Dated women on and off, but nothing serious ever came of them. There was a woman more recently I was sort of seeing, but it failed miserably. How much of my relationship problems I can blame on fapping, I don't know. I'm beginning to think it was partly responsible. I had porn standards that translated into objectifying women and always thinking that women in real life had to look and act like the women in porn. PMO did not let me mature as an adult.

My fapping habit began when I was in my early 20s. Late starter, I know. I can still remember the first porn image I used to fap to. I guess the first time is always special. lol. I was lucky that porn was not easy to get back then. But eventually, free high-speed internet porn arrived and I joined the masses and became an even bigger addict to the porn free-for-all. My habit was maybe 1-2 times a day (on average) for 18 years. So that's like 400-700 times per year times 18. Yikes. Talk about wasted time.

I gave nofap a go around June of this year after ED issues. After a day or 2, I went back to PMO. I tried nofap again in July. I made it to 39 days, but I allowed edging. Personal problems led to me relapsing. For about 2 weeks, I tried getting back on the horse, but always relapsed after a day or 2. Then, after reading about edging on ybop, I decided to give up edging. The nofap challenge became much easier after that and here I am at 90 days.

So where do I go from here? I'll see if I can make it to 100 days. Am I rebooted? I do believe that porn rewired my brain so that I eventually only got hard using my hand and porn videos. Whether that connection to porn and orgasm has been broken, I don't know yet. Its a work in progress.

As for the counter, I'll probably get rid of it if I relapse and only use a PMO/MO spreadsheet. A counter can be discouraging especially if you continually relapse. A spreadsheet gives you a bigger picture of your progress.

Anyway, that's it for my 90 day report. I enjoyed writing this journal on the forum and I have also rediscovered the benefits of keeping my own personal journal. But I don't know if I'll keep updating my online journal. Maybe if I have something new to report, I'll update. Like if I get laid. lol.

Good luck to everyone on their journey! 90 days of nofap was definitely worth it for me. I feel like a new man and have been given a new lease on life. See you on the other side of 90! Stay strong!

First of all congratulations on your success this is huge, don't let anyone ever tell you other wise. It's also inspiring to me at the start of my journey as well. Big props mate.

I think most all of us can relate to this. I know I've lost A LOT of hours to porn, way more than video games or any other hobby I ever put effort into. Hopefully I can begin translating those hours into useful endeavors that enrich my life instead of degrade it. Thanks again for the inspiration!

Way to go friend! That's no small feat! Your story is an inspiration for me and many others I'm sure. I have two questions, after 90 days do you still feel the need to PMO every so often or is it mostly under control? Also do you have any specific things you did when you felt the urge? (tips) Your quote is very simple but inspiring at the same thing, thanks!

    Thanks, HelioHelix and SilverRogue!

I gotta tell you, SilverRogue. The urge to PMO is still there, although not as bad as before nofap. The brain continually rationalizes even up to now. I've read of accounts where the person no longer has urges after 90 days, but I guess its like they say: 90 days is just the average reboot, but everyone's mileage may vary. Maybe the urge to PMO will always be there even after 120 or 240 days. I'll post an update on my nofap journal if I feel the PMO urge is truly gone.

Re tips, I channeled my energy into other things, ideally productive: walks, working out, meditation, reading, career improvement, watching (non-triggering) TV shows/movies, reading success stories on ybop/nofap forum, reading quotes I copied/pasted onto a document from those websites, journaling (on nofap and on my personal journal), hobbies, the nofap emergency button, snapping myself out of fantasizing. Hope that's helpful!

Thanks a lot for posting your story and congratulations man you must feel amazing! I agree that the counter can become a downer after so many resets. What do you lay out on a spreadsheet and how is it different to the counter mentally if you dont mind me asking?

Good luck in your ongoing success and much improved life.

    Thanks, ponderingwonder!

The spreadsheet is basically a calendar in spreadsheet form. I got the idea from another user called underdog, who talks about the counters v. spreadsheet debate here: http://www.yourbrainrebalanced.com/index.php?topic=15558.0 . I have both on my signature. You can click on mine to check it out.

Congratu-freakin-lations. It was inspiring to read this, especially after just relapsing myself. I now understand that it is possible to beat this demon. I just need to keep at it. Thank you for sharing your story.

Man, thank you so much for sharing that link, it's all right there, powerful tools for permanent change. Every single one on here should no about this. You know beating this addiction really is such a massive hidden problem in todays world. I'm quite suprised no one has published an expert account book on the most effective ways of permanent life change based around this addiction.

Underdog definitely has some good advice. I haven't followed all of it (haven't read The Slight Edge, for instance), but I do agree with him on a lot of things, like having a life vision outside of women, not fantasizing and the benefits of a spreadsheet.
