Being honest with yourself usually helps. I would reset your counter :)

I agree with @Admiral Rusty, you should reset your counter. But also, be aware that you have not lost your progress. Your 140 days moved you forward more than your momentary loss of focus moved you backwards. Stay focused, stay true to yourself. You’ll get to 140 again; and even further.

Why do you count the days?
Instead if counting make them count
Do something new that makes you stronger, develop a new habit to replace the bad one,
You won't take that long to return to the point where you are , maybe after a week or more ( it varies from one to another )
Stay focused and don't let this distract you.
I had this issue in day 120 and I get my benefits back faster.

View it as progress rather than a failed challenge. For example imagine it as a line graph that started off very inconsistent and then gradually growing with more and more good progress. That will put you in the mindset that you are still in the game and still progressing. dont let the line to back in to inconsistent ups and downs. keep climbing. But if i were you i would still probably restart the day counter fresh. Best luck and great job on the 140 days

Just keep going don't put so much though into the counter. One PMO is not going to revert 140 days of progress. Just don't bindge and carry on. Don't let the counter numbers have control over you.

it's just a number. Your not back at day 0 not even close

If you were at under 90 days I would say reset the counter. But as long as it was one relapse and you don’t binge, I would simply continue with the streak. At most given the progress you’ve already made, you may have reverted back a couple weeks of your reboot.

you gotta watch out for the chaser effect! the next days you must be careful. Dig in again in all the articles here and also other sources like yourbrainonporn for example to stay free!

Be very careful for the bingeing effect. Never let your mind think that because you did it once, one more time will not hurt . this is important.

How about this? As it takes around 90 days of abstaining after a fap to see benefits, how about just subtract 90 days from your counter and continue so that you understand the pain of a single fap because you just lost 90 days of hard work but on the other hand, you have 50 fucking days under your belt now and that is no joke. You are in a position where one decision can completely change your life. Write down whatever is going on in your mind and do not, I mean do not relapse again. Hit me up if you want more convincing .

Okay, so, what exactly did you do? Because, if you just masturbated, who cares! The main problem is porno addiction, right? (At least it is for me).

A life without porn, sure, no problem. A life without masturbation and/or orgasm... ummm... I might as well drop dead :)

Even if it was porn, it's no big deal. The biggest danger is that you feel so bad about it that you won't care anymore and keep doing it. So, stop feeling bad, move on, pretend nothing happened, forget about the counter or whatever. 140 days, man, really. You're free of it. One miss doesn't mean a thing. Just keep it at that one time.

I agree with many of the responses. I relapsed after 90 days, give or take a few. I reset the counter, but an interesting thing happened... I lost my obsession with the counter, and now I'm three weeks PMO free. My interest in porn is nil, I have had no significant urges, and I have internalized the realization that PM and O are as much a symptom of my mental health as a runny nose of a cold. Thinking back through my relapse, I realize I was lost in my head for days. I was irritable, confused, disoriented, lost. Why? I'm not entirely sure, but there were several significant changes in my life going on a few weeks ago and I wasn't entirely comfortable, or certain, how to handle them. So... I turned to my old behavior, bury the feelings with porn.

For you, reset the counter, and give up the obsession of counting. Focus on your mental health and doing good for yourself.

If your counter is important to you, reset it. If it's not, delete it. Counting days isn't the "be all and end all" but a useful strategy for some (including me). All your hard work still counts – unless you binge (dont!!) – a ratio 1/140 looks pretty good to me. I'd take that thought now.

Out of interest, what changes, if any did you notice after such an impressive run?

I think don't get obsessed with counting days. 140 days is amazing! Don't think you've been defeated and have lost all your progress because you are now at "day 1" or whatever. Progress isn't measured in days but how your physical and mental health is and a lot of healing would have taken place over 140 days. Just don't binge and accept you made a slip up.

Make peace with your past so you can move on to the future. Do not let your past influence your future. It happened now let's close this chapter and start a new one. No need to feel depressed about it or some type of way. Make peace with it and just start fresh and new. Positive energy only. Negative thoughts only bring you down. Positive thoughts bring you up and further :)

    Yes.
Personally, if I did that I would be lying to myself.
You have to. An intentional relapse is a relapse. You chose to PMO at least right? Also alot of people have the mindframe of "high streak/days" dont focus on that. Some however, not knowing, use that as a factor to stay PMO free. Which is a good thing. I quit because I hated how the addiction kept me isolated which led to depression etc.
You did not lose anything man. Choose to get back on the horse and try it again. If I were you I would not let the addiction get ahold of me again so soon. Keep that one relapse that "one relapse."Dont go do it again today or tomorrow thats what counts. Do not continue to PMO and youll make it there again.

  17. A reset is not a relapse.

I reset my counter today though I didn't masturbate. I reset it for a new challenge. But I know how it feels. If you are back at zero your inconscious mind, or let's say good old friend porn will tell you: 'Hey buddy, glad that you came back for a visit, I got a reward for you.' But listening to such an argument would be really like a complete surrender to old friend porn.

You already made 140 days! From my perspective having just managed 30 days without masturnating you are a leader role to me. Don't destroy that. And saying leader role, you were honest about your one time 'accident'. That is what a strong leader is doing, admit his own weakness when it comes to the point.

Resetting the counter there are probably two types of mind sets. One is like, yeah let's give it another try, but this is not very serious and the next streak will be shorter and the next-next will be even shorter and you know where this will end. The other mind set is more determined and something like, I reset it now but I will look forward to the day when I reach the same counter. 140 days that's a piece of cake now.

On the bottom line my own attitude towards getting away from porn, one needs to clear the brain first for a very long time, but at the same time not regard your body as a foreign object. Men have the program to give sperm, it is just our nature. Developing mental techniques to make this program dormant is the real challenge. I decided to fully enjoy my unavoidable erections almost celebrate them as a sign of natural health and vigor. In doing so I discovered that first of all the craving to see strange people in acting out my hidden fantasies are just too pale and not erotic enough any more. Isn't it always the same? And this knowledge slowly cements in my mind that porn is really boring and dumb. Keep going and don't forget about your leader role!

I personally thinks that what matters here is not that you abstained for 140 days, it is whether your next journey can beat this record. Thus, I would recommend resetting your counter. Also, try to think about what made your 140 days journey possible and how to avoid a relapse next time. Always keeping going bro! Never give up!
