I think once it gets to a point where the masses can afford it, the popularity is going to skyrocket.

Human kind might extinct then, if searching VR porn is almost as stimulating and much more easier than actually dating, showing you're a good mate, compromising and then having sex. Also, if that happens I might remain single lol, if now it is annoying that 99.9999999% of the boys watch porn and just look for sex and nothing is serious and everything sucks... Loneliness sound pretty much better :b

 

It's gonna be like a natural selection honestly. The bottom tier of dating (totally ugly men, perhaps demorfed, terrible personalities, social anxiety etc.) will not change much, they will just have new toys to play with. They didn't have much chance before so it's not gonna change dating for them much, just that they will be able to experience an almost real thing.

Top tier of dating - pickup artists and ladykillers most likely won't need this. They potentially can score women as easy as pressing a button. Not only that but they're so ingrained in dating it would be hard for them to switch to VR Porn.

The group that's going to get hit the most is medium tier. This consists of people who either are dating or aren't but are capable of doing it. VR Porn would be just easier to access, it's easier than trying to impress a girl and invite her to dates. Many men are clueless about dating or require some advice / tips. With the release of virtual reality porn they would give up, because again, getting that set is easier than improving yourself to be a good potential partner. Why bother trying hard when you could have it easier?


Nonetheless, humanity is going to get hit by that real hard. I mean, social media is already destroying relationships between people. With new porn technology it can get even worse, to a point where dating is just not worth it.

I don't see any alternative (such as VR porn) being capable of replacing a true relationship with a real woman.

Porn, in whatever form, will always have a place for people looking for superficial interaction, but it can never replace a deep relationship, where both the man and woman genuinely love and care about each other.

Probably a little better than that I would imagine, lol, but still just watching a movie. Whatever the case like with all this crap it will get boring and will be unsatisfying. I find most of the POM thing is fantasy and you use your mind to create a fantasy the quality of the pictures/movie isn't that important, but maybe that is after you are bored with the initial rush from porn?

There is an episode of an old Sci-Fi show called Sliders where they travel to an alternate world where everyone uses VR (more like Augmented Reality). No one takes off their visor ever not only because their fake realities are so much more stimulating, but because they don't want to see the horror of what the real world is even like any more.

 

I've used VR for gaming but was not impressed enough to invest in it, doubt that porn would be that much better with it.

 

Then it will literally be like the Matrix, it will be the ultimate test of free will and faith. I am not saying it will end nicely!

 

wow..... i can say in the 4 years ive been trying NoFap....VR porn was my wake up call. as ashamed as i am to admit it....i fucking loved VR porn. i bought a headset for my samsung s8, which although not 4k VR it was god dam impressive. i was unable to use regular porn as i was finding each time i PMO'd my winkie was pretty much totally flacid. no stiffness at all. i bought a headset to watch football on and other sporting events...using it for PMO didnt even occur to me.

probably disgust, sorrow, pity, embarassment and would want to run as far away from me as they could get. so that was the serious wake up call that if i wanted to reach my goals, i better buckle up and get ready to face some strong emotions that i had been avoiding the whole time.


so in a way im glad i watched it because it made me realise. but at the same time it is a very dangerous path to go down. but we all have to walk our own paths, and maybe reaching new levels of lowness and shame is what some people need to actually stop.


for the first time in 4 years i installed blocking software through my ISP and mobile cell company, which id never done before. deleted everything off computer, phone all history. total new start.

Im on day 14 now and im finding myself having sexy dreams, and waking up aroused..which hasnt happened in years so must be a good thing. although i am angry and frustrated and id say upset most of the time im awake...there are bursts of 10 or so minutes when i feel happy and content with my decisions. im just hoping these will increase over time

I think whoever comes up with the first virtual strip club is going to become very rich but the technology as it stands is still in a prolonged development phase and as far as i know we don't have proper VR cameras yet, so most of it will be CGI. In 5 -10 years this will change though and currently there is already a 4k headset being made on kickstarter with a field of vision closer to that of our natural field of vision.

I'm considering a VR headset for gaming and i think that is where the money is going to be from the headset developers when they start getting AAA game designers on board. At the moment it's fun, a little bit gimmicky but good enough for people to invest in and try out new games like simulators etc it is the start of something very big in the gaming industry and will get to a point where we see competition like that between Sega and Nintendo or Microsoft and Sony when they become really affordable.

Of course the darker side to this technology is that it almost certainly will be abused for nefarious activities like porn or VR strip club just as computers were used when we could display full photgraphs and videos and the internet is used to distribute and sell content...VR will have its day and i hope it doesn't ruin as many lives as internet porn has.

I think the worst part of this theory is the possibility of a child getting access, because once you buy a VR compatible with what your talking about.. Parental monitoring goes completely out the window, and you think it's bad today?

Agreed, currently porn only encompasses the visual part. The doses of this addiction will slowly escalate by including other senses for stimulation (e.g. through some simulated physical sensation by "other media"). I am not going to expand this further cause if it really happened, our brains would be doomed to differentiate between real sex and virtual reality.

 

From reading an article on VR porn, I was under the impression that producers tried to do it but found just one mistake ruined an entire video. Therefore making it unviable due to so many hours of work equaling zero usable material. In most cases the actors ran out of energy before the ideal outcome was achieved, and they sent the very expensive cameras back. But it may become easier to create in the future.

However, decades ago people thought we would travel around our cities in personal planes and helicopters. We have the technology to achieve this now, but it just didn't catch on. My thoughts and my hope, is that this will be another technically possible but ultimately commercially unviable advancement of technology.

The growing population in China requires thousands of newly trained pilots in the near future. I would not be surprised if VR headsets used simulation programs to train the cadets who already have outgrown the limited runway facilities available in real life.

Perhaps before gaming then, this technology could really take off pardon the pun - but again I would think and hope that it is only profitable with computer graphics based programs.

If one looks back at our history of inventions, it is littered with examples that both functioned fine and served a purpose - yet failed to assimilate and cannot be recalled today. I guess watch phones could be one - if it weren't for apple reviving and subsequently failing to sell them (I still haven't seen a single person wear one in the street). This too may be the case with the awkward oversized headphones...

 

And still, you'll never be able to compare 3D porn and sex toys to the love and wamth that you could possibly get from a real woman.

I can't even imagine a reality in which people are wasting their time and money on sex machines (the same virtual reality that you were talking about) instead of improving themselves and living in the real world.
Of course there are going to be a lot of new triggers in the future
(Take the Japanese for example, who invented sex dolls that looks just like real women - but each doll costs about 2000$ and it's only getting higher)
