So I'm back in nofap and had a realization that maybe I've been doing it wrong. Or that my approach has been flawed, after I passed a difficult math class almost 4 years ago, I put my focus almost entirely on the amount of days I wasn't masturbating. That is a wrong approach, because once you reset that counter to zero, it just sucks away your motivation and you end up going back to your old habits. What pisses me off more is that I made a post similar to this one 2 years ago and failed to follow what I said. This is an addiction and you need to attack it from many different angles in order to truly overcome it and reboot your brain. Not fapping while applying no changes to your lifestyle and way of thinking is not rebooting, it is simply abstaining, there's a huge difference between the 2. Meanwhile, not fapping, while adopting a healthier lifestyle, such as starting up a new exercise program, learning a new hobby, reading a book, or changing your diet puts you on the right steps to a full reboot. Start small, praise yourself for doing littles things first, such as not hitting the snooze button on your alarm, or finally deciding to clean up your house, going to the gym, or doing laundry even when you feel like shit and don't wanna get up. Even just getting out of bed on some days is worth praising yourself. Then work your way up to making bigger changes, and reward yourself when you've made a big strides. This post really helped me out.

Yeah i completely agree with that, i have reset my counter on multiple occasions and thought well i have lost all the progress and have to start again so i may as well just take the whole day off and then PMO multiple times. I keep my counter there as a little reminder now but i go off how i am feeling and the positive changes i am making. If i feel good and i'm eating healthy and the morning wood starts to come back then i know i'm on the right track.

That was exactly my approach, but I'm gonna focus on the changes before days, and actually live by it, those that just count the days are doing it completely wrong and setting themselves up for a "reset" that eventually turns into a full blown relapse. One reset doesn't mean you've lost all progress.
