To be honest I'm not sure what to expect here however I have tried to quit pornographic materials on numerous occasions and I decided to sign up to NoFap because I thought that being held accountable to complete strangers would help. Hopefully quitting porn should be easier now as I have enabled a web filter and made a password for it my shuffling cards and drawing ten random cards from the deck. I did the same for an email account set up specifically for the web filter.

Random thought; I have no idea how to get the most out of this site. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I just found this site too bud. There is a site called sacred sexuality which I heard through a video on NoFap Hacks and Tricks video (10 best ways or something). The sacred sexuality site seems very well thought out. Good luck my friend. I just posted a few minutes ago as well. I am navigating as well. As I find more, I will keep you posted.

Hey guys -- I joined about four days ago and I'm still figuring it out, but I think the most useful way to use the community is for you to start a journal, and make a resolution to update it daily.

It's one more thing you have to look forward to at the end of each day: I'm going to have to write up how the day went, and if I come out of this tough moment victorious, then I get to tell the NoFap community about it. I'll feel good about it, and all my brothers on the site will get encouraged reading about it. That type of thing.

And personally, I've been getting a lot out of just spending 15 minutes or so a day on the site, reading journals and other conversations on the forum. It's all part of reprogramming how we think about porn: we've spend so many hours, all added up, understanding porn as Users. But here, you can reprogram yourself to see porn not as a User, but as a critic, or a psychologist, or whatever it is. The point is that you're one step removed: porn is not something you use, but something you can understand intellectually. So far, it's helped me take a step back every time I have a tough moment: "Ah, I recognize what's happening because I've read about this happening to other guys!" Instead of just panicking and trying to put out the flames by obeying the urge.

Does that make sense? Short version: update your journal daily, and read stuff on this forum for a few minutes every day.

Another quick one I forgot to mention: add this site to your bookmarks toolbar.

I haven't had to use it yet, but word is that it's super helpful in breaking the automatic PMO sequence we've programmed ourselves to follow. And even if you do PMO, there's a button for Relapsed to help you avoid that binge pattern many of us are familiar with.

    Hey welcome to the site-
I've been on here since October, and it really has helped me. (Despite the evidence to the contrary indicated on my shame-ometer/counter)
This thread is your journal- at least that's how I understand it. I think the way to get the most out of this site is to
    1. keep your own thread going here
    2. comment on other people's threads (for starters, click on "new posts"- that's how I found this) This is where you'll get to know other people on the site, and hopefully learn from them.
    3. Find an accountability partner, or send private messages to people you resonate with.
    4. Get a counter- like the one I have on my signature.

Thanks, also is there a page where I can find out what all the initials mean. I figured out that PMO has something to do with masturbating to porn but I'd rather know what the definitions are rather than rely on guess work. The last thing I want to do is confuse myself with erroneous assumption.

    Great first step.

As far as how to get the most out of this site , post often and post a lot. Soon you'll be the guy answering newbies questions.
