Hey guys, does anyone have much knowledge about fapping and androgen receptor depletion? Is it a myth or has there been evidence to back it up? Is it porn itself that causes it or orgasming or the combinatiom of the 2? Would wet dreams have the same sort of effect?
Also does anyone know how like it takes for the receptors to come back?

  2. Im really interested in this too. In my experience my androgen receptors become more sensitive when I am having regular or frequent orgasms.

When I'm having regular orgasms, I feel horny much of the time, I feel an inate desire to 'hunt' for sex (with both men and women), I orgasm easier and more intensely (but only by the method that I'm conditioned to at the time), I'm confident and seductive and a bit fiesty and more 'male' in my outlook than my female friends. Unfortunately my acne also flares. This is all because orgasms & sex-related dopamine seem to make my androgen receptors much more sensitive to the free testosterone in my system. I have normal T levels for a female (had them tested), but my receptors seem to be over-receptive to it, so it almost feels like my female body is feeling the effects of male levels of T, and it can be quite overwhelming.

When I quit orgasms, after a few weeks my androgen receptors seem to go into shut down. My skin clears up and my sensual responsiveness dies - flatline. Once the flatline lifts and I start having intense sexual desire and orgasms again the acne comes back, along with the more 'male' outlook on life.

Whenever my acne has gotten really bad, I've been put on an angrogen-blocking contraceptive pill. Then the acne goes away, but so does my sex drive, my ability to get aroused, and my orgasms. That pill is basically chemical castration for me. I also become more 'female' in my outlook. Its always taken around 6 months to a year to get my androgen-sensitivity back after coming off that pill - but then the acne comes back.

It seems I am simply too sensitive to my own androgens.

I think possibly I was exposed to higher levels of T in the womb than is average for a female, which has left me with over-sensitive androgen receptors. So I think my experience with it might not be the norm.

I'm sorry for all the male/female generalising I have done here by the way! I do realise gender is not that clear cut but it's hard to explain without using that terminology.

What are the main differences between androgen and dopamine receptors? I'm too brain fogged to look up on YBOP.com for answers. (so I do apologize)

Yeah that's interesting. So for you, as a female it does the opposite. Your androgen receptors become more sensitive if you orgasm regularly. So even though you probably have normal testosterone levels for a female, the increased sensitivity in the androgen receptors may cause you to use more of that testosterone than other females so you adopt more of those 'male' traits. Therefore gain the sex drive similar to males. The orgasm thing, because I'm a dude, I find after going on a long NoFap streak, when I do relapse my orgasms would be a lot more intense than if I were fapping everyday. I start to desensitise. So I going to go on a wild guess here bare with me
Perhaps in males our androgen receptors decrease or desensitise when masterbating or orgasming regularly so they become less manly. And in a females case, they become more sensitive as you mentioned, so you become a little manly in behaviour and you become less sensitive to your female hormone; estrogen

I don't know too much about it this but dopamine receptors are more in charge of your happy or 'feel good chemicals'. While androgen receptors is what testosterone (male hormone) combines to for our body to actually utilize it.
And then there are estrogen receptors which are for estrogen (female hormone) to combine to.

  6. Yep that sounds totally right!

Haha I mean it makes a lot of ssense to me, but I could also be very wrong. More studies need to be done I think. And I took your story and generalised it to other females. Your experience might be different to them who knows?

  8. I think I have over-active androgen receptors so I am probably different to most females. I reckon females that are highly sexed and battle acne probably have the same issue
