Depression and anxiety

  1. 38 year old married guy who's struggled with fapping and then PMO since puberty. Ended up on anti depressants as I've had depression and anxiety which is mental really as I'm such a capable guy normally.

    Started looking into what mastutbation did to you and came across this and the redit nofap site. I've been clean for 8 days now and it's certainly helped me so far. Just looking to say hi and I'll hopefully keep people informed with how nofap effects my mood.

    That's great! Realizing the connection between PMO and my anxiety/depression has been the biggest motivator on this journey for me. The future is looking brighter.
     
  3. Yeah, I've been suicidal, not done anything but would have been quite happy to die, in the last few months and I need to change and get better. I feel I have high motivation for this but I know it is so easy to slip.

    glad to have you on board.
    i still consider myself a newbie, as well, this is my second try here.
    motivation and mood were DEFINITELY improved during my 1st trial run, which lasted about two months,

    eventually, i fell off the wagon when something stressful (perceived to be a stress) happened, (as i could not BEGIN to tell you what the heck it was)

    lots of little pitfalls, and snares to step into,
    its a very slippery slope for falling back into bad, old habits.

    look at gary wilson's six videos on youtube "your brain on porn", and read his e-book, available at: www. yourbrainonporn.com , if you haven't yet.
    read a lot of successes here (for motivation) and relapses (for warnings and snare detection)


    get a counter to have at the bottom of your posts, have short, medium, and long term goals.
    write down, on paper, and in the ether, WHY you want this, and what it means to you.

    8 days and counting... thats a great start.
