Relapsed after a long streak getting back up is harder than i thought it would be

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Oct 30, 2018.

  1. Relapsed after a 300+day streak starting over at first I thought would be easy now 4 days after that I am still confused about starting over again . Feeling anxious and worried about little things non porn related it wasn't like this the last time I relapsed but back then I had many 2 week stints before I had a long streak . confused as to why this is happing I thought I was threw this already

Take things one day at a time.

You made it with over 300 days without acting out. You have all that experience under your belt. It is not all lost because you relapsed. Relapse is a setback, but it doesn't take you all the way back. You can do this, just as you did before. Stay busy, keep reaching out for support, and, above all else, be kind to yourself.

I think on longer streaks we forget just how hard the beginning is. The first 4 days are the worst, and it's only after about 2 weeks that mental clarity and stability really starts coming. I just reset 3 days ago after 75 days, and I'm feeling fairly irritable.

  4. that's the truth its been so long after my last streak I forgot a lot about the first part

That is definitely the truth. You will be right back on your way to a big streak clean living you have the strength as you've shown previously. Just curious, why did you relapse? Did you do so willingly or did urges set in? Just curious because I would assume after that long urges would fade but I could be wrong..

I can't speak for OP, but for me, the urges haven't gone away even after being clean for over 200 days. They're certainly less intense than they were when I first started, and I'm much more equipped to deal with them now, but they still demand my undivided attention and care when they come up. If I let my guard down, I know I can slip back into my old habits easily. I think the idea that urges go away after time is mostly a myth. They never go away completely, but they do become less frequent, and you get better at dealing with them.

Thanks for the answer. That is something... I guess P is an addiction like no other. Seems that even the guys with the longest of streaks relapse every now and then. I quit chewing tobacco Almost a year ago and I never think about it anymore. As a matter of fact it disgusts me now. I would like to get that way with P.

  8. I made the mistake I owned up to it . Urges do go down in your streak what brought me down I would have laughfed off the months before but for some reason it took hold of me and I thought I had to act out I am not proud of it but it happened because the women I saw in a regular movie looked a lot like one of my favorite porn stars i just broke down and looked her up its and then I started viewing scenes I have scene some hot women during this streak but that one set me off I AM ONLY HUMAN

Ok. You have achieved tons. You should regard your next goal as getting to 365 days with only one relapse.

This is a better way of thinking rather than resetting your counter

Did you see any life improvements on that long streak?

  12. Yes I did
    1. less anxiety
    2. better posture
    3. better sleep

I think that's completely possible. It just takes some time. I already consider porn very unappealing at this point in my life. However, that doesn't get rid of the urges, oddly enough.

Same as me. I relapsed after 3 years. Even after 4 days of reboot the experience is still horrible. Stress, anxiety and light sleep are still haunting me.

I am experiencing something similar. Ever since my 49 day streak my streaks are shorter and shorter. It's been a while since I made it to two weeks. I have trouble sleeping and anxiety and depression. It will get better.

It is better to mark the date of relapse to remind us that reboot after relapse is so horrible.

That's why people say that Nofap challenge is lifelong. Don't let chaser effect take control over you, relapsed? Fuck it, u have gone very long road. Consider it as act of giving yourself pleasure, don't think about it too much, keep going dude!

It is same for me too. Urges come and go. During the streak, I have more control to urges. But be careful when the urges become stronger and frequent. This is why I failed. I think the sudden increase in strength and frequency of urges indicate sudden increase in stress. I failed to manage the the stress and that’s why I relapsed. I need to come a way to deal with the stress.
