    Dear fapstraunots,

I started the PMO on October 21st. It was hard as usual, but the problem this time is that I didn't need to look at porn to masturbate. I was imagining staff all day long. Every girl I talk to or I just look at, I just undress her. After days, it didn't want to go away. I was a horny dog for days. I couldn't take it no more, I couldn't focus on my work, so I just gave up to get it out of my system.

But now I'm concerned. Even if I quit porn, and actually I was working all day and I work out after and I met a lot of people in different social events..., am I still gonna get that horny anyway? and end up masturbating?

If you are wondering why I don't have any partner, well it's just because it's my last year of PhD (I really have to focus), and I'm doing it abroad (small friends network, most of them already married).

Do you have any techniques, advice or anything to control my naughty imagination?

    Thank you very much.

We are all different and this addiction affects us all in different ways.
In your case I would not worry about these thoughts and urges as they are all probably connected to the addiction to porn.
Embark on a full hard mode abstinence and things should improve.
    Continued good luck

Your internal state, intense sexual desire, does not have to lead to PMO but you have a belief in your mind that it inevitably will - there are an infinite number of constructive things you can do with this energy. Masturbating it away is a waste of your life force. The main technique is to break down the false beliefs you have. How do you know that you have to masturbate whenever sexual desire becomes intense?

Thanks for your responses guys. I just don't have any other solution for now than masturbating (single and finishing my PhD ...). Sometimes is just too hard ...

"just" shows you where your limiting beliefs are at. Look at your statement. You just don't have any solution. It's just too hard. You don't believe it's possible for you to stop - mostly internally you don't want to. Somehow in your mind being single and doing PhD = masturbation. How is that? Why can't those things = something that benefits you instead of destroying your potential. You're obviously intelligent but you are sabotaging yourself with PMO. Are you committed to the process of rebooting, do you have the intention of letting this go? It seems like you are giving into it permanently. What is your thought process.

Before I go to sleep at night I nearly always have erotic thoughts. The erotic thoughts isn't the main problem for me, it's the erection that concerns me. I've learned to calm that area with intense concentration. I discovered it from doing yoga, it's like putting all the stress away (in this case the increase of blood pressure and muscle tension). I highly suggest you try some yoga every day, it can help immensely once you get better at it.

Erotic thoughts lead to the erection and you need to put it in the same category as pornography because it is. You are simply viewing it on your inner screen. Erection plus edging is the problem. If you have erection either get up and do something else or don't edge (or entertain erotic thoughts). When you put erotic thoughts, erection and edging together you are right back where you started.

You need to be determined to reboot and commit to leaving this behind forever. Horny is not something you have no control over, horny is a desire you built up by free-will to an unmanageable state. And you have the free-will to weaken then desire. The technique is, it's your choice.

I completely agree with you, we all have a choice. Once we overcome the feeling of horniness and don't stray from the path you set, you can manage it. It is not to be underestimated tho, I did that not long ago and it hit me back full force making me feel like a loser. In the end, it can be said how determined you are.

    Thanks for your responding.
I didn't say that I will give up. I'm not a quitter. But for now I really don't have the time to meet a girl. I barely sleep 5h a day (that's not healthy, I know). So I will stay single for few months for sure, but I will try to change that after, but before meeting someone, I want to get rid of all my naughty thoughts and be rebooted. So I'm not quitting. Why I still break down and masturbate sometimes, well, I see girls everyday and everywhere with their sexy skirts and stuff, I see a lot of lingerie ads ... and this keeps accumulating in my head. So when I'm working on my PhD, and I'm really focused, sometimes suddenly that sexy girl that I saw in the subway 3 days ago just pops up in my head, and I get horny ... And that's why I started this conversation. It's not just porn, it's also my imagination. So when I start losing my concentration repeatedly , I just masturbate so I can carry on my research peacefully.
But I don't reboot, and that sucks, so I just want to know how to control my imagination. I'm not looking for excuses to quit.

Oh thanks, I do practice intense sport, but I keep forgetting about stretching, cooling down ... That's a good lead, I will try it!

"I don't have time to meet a girl". How much time do you spend each week masturbating? Enough time to do something social where you might meet someone? To go on a date? Maybe you need to save up that wasted time to make time for better things. Stop wasting time on dates with your hand and put as much intention, planning and hard work into building a relationship as you have proven already that you can direct into your academic studies. Don't rob yourself of true intimacy and real experiences so you can jerk one out when you feel like it. Pursue what your sexual desires are really about: finding a loving partner to share loving and pleasurable experiences with.

Maybe try harder listening to those women when you're talking to them... try to make sense of what they're saying... that might help you distract your mind from the imaginations...
I know its easier said than done...
    Hope that helps :)

I spend 1 hour a week masturbating. You think that 1 hour a week is enough to build a relationship?

And how about how time spent fantasising, distracted or searching for material? Time spent on this website or others as you try to avoid your urges? You can find the time to do the things that you find value in or want to do. Building a relationship is time worth spending. An hour is a good starting point, sure. But I'm sure you have more free time than that. Rather than let your hour a week of PMO or MO spill out into the rest of your time, let that PMO time be reassigned to activities that have true value. Such as building a worthwhile relationship wih a real person.
