  1. What do people think about the US elections that happened yesterday? What is your analysis? How do you feel going forward?

First off I love your profile pic lol - I'm happy the democrats took back the house for sure - also happy that there seems to be more diversity among the new elected people. I heard about at least 2 gay people in a elected position and there seems to be more women also elected in.
I'm not eligible to vote yet so I'm not that involved in politics but I think I'm mostly happy with the results - going forward I think it'll be interested to see what the democrats do in the house and how that will affect Trump's plans/ position as president.

Im not thrilled about it. My taxes will probably go up, and some of them even want to turn minnesota into a sanctuary state.

No feelings. Maybe I should start getting more involved?

  6. This was the first year where I enthusiastically voted a straight Republican ticket. I live in Wisconsin, where Scott Walker lost the governorship to the Democrats. That is the biggest disappointment to me about these elections, that we are going to have a liberal governor. Other than that, I think in my state and nationally the elections went better than expected for the Republicans. In Wisconsin the Republicans actually increased their mammoth lead in the State legislature, despite Walker losing to a Democrat, and so the new governor's not going to be able to do much. I think Walker lost because of his failed presidential run, made him look weak, and he probably would have won yesterday if he was more "Trumpian" instead of bland. Nationally, yes the Democrats won the House, but that was expected. Republicans increased their lead in the Senate, so that protects Trump from the House. Republicans also won governorships in key states, like Florida and Ohio. This was supposed to be the year of the "blue wave", but Republicans actually had much bigger "waves" in previous years when Obama and Clinton were presidents. I'm finding reason to be optimistic and am pretty excited to see how Trump will take on these new challenges

They seized the Senate incredibly. It was very interesting. I think this puts the president in a winning place for 2020, all things considered. A big night for Republicans.

I find it off-putting that so many people describe being pleased that minority groups gained representatives, and it makes as much sense as if I were pleased a majority group were elected.

"I'm glad to see so many men were elected. And white people. Also, straight people. Oh, and people who are right handed!"

Know what I mean? Good policies should guide voters, instead of bandwagoning race, sex or sexual orientation.

Not great. Here in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Portlandia it is more of the same. The outcome of the local/state voting was all for more taxes, more spending, more debt, and more regulation. And just today the Portland Revolutionary, er, City Council gave it's consent to spend 3 BILLION dollars to build all of 12 more miles of light rail. Yippee. The planet is saved.

More interesting is what happens when Ruth Bader Ginsberg drops dead? Another Supreme Court appointment. I would love to see Trump nominate an ultra hard-core conservative WOMAN judge to take her place. And watch the Dems heads explode.

Also hooray to that liberty challenged dumbass Jeff Sessions no longer being AG.

  10. agree. I literally can't come to understand why the group somebody belongs to gives them an ounce of qualification to be a politician. Back in the day Martin Luther said people should be judged on the content of their character, and people seem to have abandoned that idea completely.

  12. Yikes feel bad for you! Can you get out or are you stuck?

Yeah the next Supreme Court appointment will be interesting, nothing the Dems can do

I am happy that Sessions is gone too, he mucked up the whole thing with Mueller

I hear there's some fraud going on in Florida.

  16. Yep

  17. Down here in Florida it was so close but they want to do a dang recount I’m afraid we may lose the state next election because people who previously lost the right to vote will get to vote again no problem with that just fear they will vote the other way I don’t want the democrats to make laws over here they’ll probably go and turn the state into a sanctuary state I did not think the election would be that close down here

There is honestly nothing that anyone can complain about, from this election. The R Senate majority gives Trump plenty of power to make some of the necessary changes in the next few years. Thus, the American populace should be able to decide whether or not to elect him for a second term based on how he uses this amazing advantage not afforded to other presidents. As for the D House majority, the American people have established a means for checking his power and holding him accountable, which can only be a good thing.

  20. OK well that's not so bad then, haha is Idaho the escape zone?
