    I didn't want anything to hold any power or control over me, and i also suffered PIED. I had begun to suspect that PMO was destructive and damaging too.

    In setting out to accomplish an objective i always look for a hack in brain and behaviour that i can utilise to accelerate and ease the process towards the goal.

    Here's what i came up with that worked for me and will work for anyone (btw, this streak is my first attempt, i never relapsed);
    The person you will be when you have conquered this goal will not BE the person you are now - otherwise you would have accomplished this goal already, right? So, start now to become the person you will be when you have accomplished the goal of being PMO free. What will that person look like? Firstly, he will be a strong character able to withstand pain and discomfort, so start bringing pain and discomfort into your life now and learn to get good at handling it, even enjoy it, embrace it.

    It feels so good to laugh in the face of pain because it holds no power over you anymore. I gave up hot showers because they were comfortable, i gave up sugar because i liked it, i gave up alcohol because i enjoyed it, i started getting up at 5.00 and going to bed at 9.00pm because it was ridiculously difficult for me to do (but it became easier and eventually a habit), i gave up meat and dairy because it was hard to do, and so on. I gave up anything expedient and instead focused on growth and meaning - or, i gave up short term comfort and pleasure for greater long term growth and benefit.

    This turned me into a person who could not be beaten by any amount of discomfort and pain - in fact i ended up seeking out pain and discomfort. I laughed at its pathetic attempt to derail me, to beat me - i had become so acclimatised to it that it was like wearing a coat of armour that protected me from its onslaught. Then you find that there is a powerful momentum that has built up and spins fast and then faster, further protecting against any relapse to old expedient ways, momentum is a powerful ally. It is certainly an enemy at first because of the momentum built up around years of a PMO habit, but when it works for you it becomes powerful beyond words.

    Success in anything starts with the correct mindset, how you frame anything effects the outcome. There are many other tips on framing, mindset and correct thinking that i will attempt to cover in another post. For now, everyone should break down challenges into bite size winnable goals where the winning line is in sight. The best way to fail is to attempt some mighty challenge like a last man standing challenge where the winning line is not even defined. When the brain has no clearly defined target to lock onto - this is goal suicide. I myself did the 30 day challenge first, then the 60 day, then the 180 day, before coming over here, as did @Foxislander.

    Ps; i never relapsed and this streak is my first attempt, but i had many very close calls where the desire was excruciating and if it wasn't for my tolerance and familiarity of pain i would have had no protection or resolve to say no. This is probably why a lot of people are falling short in their battles.

    Start building a tolerance to pain.

    A long post but hope this helps.

    236th day. All good.

    Have a better control on my thoughts. Started to think abstaining from PMO isn't that difficult. B)

    Don't think that. That's so incorrect and a lie the devil would love you to believe.

  8. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain to me what has helped you maintain such a strong recovery. I like to learn from others who are successful in various endeavors and you are exemplary. The fact that you have done it on the first attempt is even more impressive.

    Learning to love pain and discomfort is something that I definitely need to embrace wholeheartedly. I have tried to do this but 'trying' doesn't cut it as I have gathered from you post.

    Also breaking the challenge into manageable chunks is definitely better. I now have small but clear goals that are achievable and help to build my confidence.

    I definitely look forward to you expounding on framing and more on the correct mindset. Thanks once again

  9. Day 6- So I managed to sail through the weekend unscathed without much battle and anguish. It felt a little bit too easy..he he. When one is used to battling urges throughout the day and night then suddenly there is peace and tranquility, it can get scary.
    It's a new week and I feel a little anxious. But anyway it is just a Monday!

  15. So I’ve realized some things... blocking myself out of porn isn’t going to work. I will just actively seek out ways of getting it. The only way to succeed is to whole heartedly decide that I will succeed no matter what. Last night I watched soft core on my Roku Tv... I can also use an app to look at pictures on the internet even though my phone has restrictions inabled... so getting rid of my laptop is pointless if I’m just going to be doing that.... 100% Cold turkey is looking like the only conceivable way.
