Ex-satanic worshiper on NoFap

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Frühlingstimme, Nov 19, 2016.

  1. So in Satanism, Satan exists but there is no God? Or is Satan God, but he can't be because there is no God? Or is it just Satanism in name and something totally different in actuality?

In LaVey's satanism God is each of us. Actually, you can believe there is an external God, but he is a God who doesn't care. It must be something so great that it doesn't care about what little humans do. There is a chapter in the book "The God that saved you can be yourself", thus meaning that we are our own Gods. We all are Satan.

@IggyIshness you'd make a good satanist, you have the mindset for it :D

  4. This was also the original teaching of Jesus and early Christianity. With the exception that unlike Satanism they regarded excessive indulgence in flesh and other things of physical realm as bad, because that's something that ultimately leads to suffering, if not properly balanced out by spiritual practices. Which by the way, being a Buddhist myself, I do agree on. And I think that now you @Frühlingstimme see as well from personal experience. We have to have some control or else it leads to addictions and compulsions. Even good things (like sex or food) can hurt us in excess.

So that was all beautiful until people decided to take metaphorical concepts of Heaven and Hell, God, Satan, etc literary, which they were never supposed to be. Hence the evolution of Christianity that it is today. I partly blame Jesus (if he even existed) for speaking in riddles and heavy metaphors. Maybe if he would have spoken clearly as Buddha did he would have not been misunderstood so awfully and his teaching ruined, and largely wasted.

LaVey's Satanism is nothing but a big middle finger to modern Christianity. It mostly attracts people who are either rebellious against major Abrahamic religions for whatever erason (like maybe they grow up in highly religious household and they hated it or they see BS that religious people do in the world in the name of God) or simply looking for an excuse to indulge in their addictions. Not saying that all are like this, but I am quite sure it's true for majority. @Frühlingstimme it would be interesting to hear your reasons for choosing this path.

My father is co-leader of a baptist church, so you're right about why I chose it. At start was just to rebel against my family, but being a satanist for over ten years made it evolve with me. And yes I might have used this to indulge excessively in mundane pleasure, as an excuse to do what I want. I took from the satanic bible what I wanted, to do what I wanted to do. I ignored pieces of text like this:

But there are some points on the satanic bible which I just can't disagree. I'm turning away from porn because I saw it's destructive effect. But making it a sin would make everything worse. I might still want my freedom to do what I think it's right, even if I don't want exercise that freedom.

I see satanism, specially LaVey's, as much more than only pointing the middle finger to Christians, although the satanic bible has a full chapter dedicated to hating Christians, and it's quite hilarious. Most people don't know these facts about satanists:

    1. Because of the nine statements, all satanists respect animals. We do not kill them in our rituals.
    2. To a satanist, the most important date is his birth day.
    3. Satanists do not judge people, because they value individuality. Thus we do not belittle women, we do not hurt gays, and we don't think bad of people who follow other religions.
    4. We don't have a church, and LaVey's bible tells us that we can do whatever we want, so I might be very different from other satanists. For example, Anton LaVey lied all his life, but I find it hard to lie all the time... one has to have good memory to lie, and remember what he told to whom.
In practice it doesn't matter much if I'm satanist or atheist. I'll let some reflection here about the satanic bible, now that moderators changed the thread to Offtopic, we might discuss it more deeply:

By the way, the title of the thread is "Ex-satanic worshiper on NoFap" because I thought I would change my mind after hearing someone's opinion about religion, but I had (as always) to find the answers myself, and here I am teaching satanism to you.

I told this earlier, but I admire Christians for their chastity, charity, the Catholic Church is the oldest institution of the world. I've been learning, and unlike my father and his crew, they do not care if other people are not Christians. They try to teach by the example, which I think is the most honest form of convincing someone. I was surprised to know that they encourage ecumenism instead of bringing the fish to his side. I've always hated proselytism because they think it's some sort of a win if the other agrees, when both are dumb ass and are learning nothing from each other.

I have this longing to "belong" to something. This is mainly what led me to satanism. I could pretty well be atheist and all would be fine. But, like I stated earlier, accepting something mentally is different from accepting it emotionally. I'm thinking of going to my local church to talk with the priest, but after watching some videos online about religion, I bet he'll want me to believe the unbelievable, that Christ is alive and the threesome God is father, son and holy ghost. I could ignore all that... but that would be fake, belonging to something I don't really believe.

I don't have to believe Satan's trident to be a satanist, that's why I chose this path. I'm starting to get convinced no one can change my point of view on that.

Buddhism is a fine alternative, and it is more aligned with NoFap. But I am american and Buddhism is as foreign to my peers as satanism, so I don't see any change. There is a group of buddhist freaks in my town but they charge to "teach" meditation lol. I think religion should be decided on a personal level, and I am not really fond of religious debate so this thread might be well dead. If you want to keep discussing the topic, feel free.

  7. Satan works in mysterious ways lol.
There is quite huge different in philosophies actually, at least judging by what I know about LaVey's Satanism. But of course that can vary on individual basis. Also there IS a change in how people would perceive you. When I think of a Satanist I think of a tall, young man in black leather jacket and metal belt. But when I think of a Buddhist I imagine a short hippie vegan girl lol. So I guess being Satanist is cooler eh? :D

Do you practice magic? You said you used to practice the Left Hand Path and did some rituals? Was it like a short term experimental thing? Cos judging by your expressed skepticism for Christian magical claims I am inclined to assume that you do not really believe in magick? Cos if all you want is to belong to something, something that represents your existing beliefs (and Satanism seems to be closest so far which seems to be the only reason you are still a one), and you do believe in magic, have you considered witchcraft? You can still be a part of huge community but at the same time not be limited by philosophies of religion because witchcraft covers wide array of things. Wicca is another one but more limited than just witchcraft/sorcery.

I used to feel like worshiping Egyptian god Anubis once upon a time lol. The guide of souls after death and in charge of underworld. He is very much like Satan. Only not evil; fair. And yet in a way a creature of darkness. Anyhow, I never ended up following through with it. That was back then when I was interested in Wicca and witchcraft and felt like him being the god to put on my altar.

I used to hang out with a group of friends, we all wore black clothes. Nowadays I dress normally, I think satanism is the only reminiscence from that time. I actually dated a Buddhist girl, and went with her to a Buddhist festival, so I know quite well how they look... Normal people! lol

You mentioned magick which is a term of Thelema. Also Wicca. Along with LaVey's satanism, these are the three major branches of satanism, being that Thelema and LaVey's satanism belong to left hand path, and Wicca is of right hand path. I never liked Thelema, I think it's too esoterical, and they aim secrecy. Their motto "we're few, but we'll dominate the world" is a bit stupid. If everyone becomes thelemists, there will be no one to dominate and everyone will be winners or losers. Wicca is an entirely different thing, being of right hand, and for some reason it attracts a lot of girls.

I did the ritual to sell my soul long ago, and by no means it was perfect. I achieved the results I wanted though. I set a expiration date, stated exactly what I wanted and then performed the ritual. I asked in the ritual for Satan to give me a girl, she would say that she loves me, and it should reflect her true feelings. Note that I did this as a sort of joke, since the ritual was by no means perfect, but on that same week a girl said she loved me. I was 17 at the time, silly thing. (btw I could never tell it to anyone, I just broke the ritual :) I didn't date that girl for long anyway)

Some years ago I tried again, this time a hate ritual, which I don't really know if it worked, I didn't check, but I hope that the target of my ritual be dead now. This hate ritual was even harder to do than the first, and I lost all motivation to do rituals now, they lost the fun I think.

The hate ritual requires that you do not regret what you've done, otherwise the target turns against the caster. If you care even a little bit for the person, same, what you wish to him goes to you. Needless to say, this ritual is dangerous. If he doesn't believe in rituals, then there is a chance he is immune, and I did the ritual without a Chinese bell, which was required. I literally expose myself doing those things, because you have to set a complicated altar, with very hard to find things, like a magical dagger, a red candle, we have to know the position of the sun when doing the ritual, some items must be turned to West, for example, and if you start doubting the whole thing, it turns against you :p Really not fun.

The one to sell the soul is simpler, in the matter of finding things, but still you have to set up a very satanic environment, and finding a quiet and nice place to do this sort of things might be a challenge.

Now, there are dozens of rituals, most of them involve getting naked in front of other people, very few rituals can be done alone and they are boring anyway. I'm still looking for a magical dagger and I'm close to obtain one, but I have to study and do more serious stuff than go chase a magical dagger. That would be easier if I had a job. I saw one, by the way, by accident and it was beautiful. The owner got all upset and afraid to tell me what was that, denying that it was a dagger for satanic ritual but I knew when I saw it.

And if you're Wicca you know... first thing you must do to become Wicca is getting naked in front of a Wicca, so yeah, screw it, one of my friends from school time is a Wiccan, a true one, unlike most men who only enter it for "other" purposes, if you get what I mean.

On that men/women balance, I admit that LaVey satanism is a bit of sexist in favor of men. The few girls who are truly satanists, are either ugly or very fat, or maybe I just don't know enough satanist girls to say. Wicca is a thing of women, and very girlish. That's why you left?

That's my experience with magic. What's yours?

PS> Magical dagger looks like this

Thelema is based on Egyptian Gods, and I think satanism is very close to Egyptian mythology. It is said that LaVey did a lot of research about that but I don't know if it's true.

  13. I do currently practice astral projection and I do plan on working to develop my Chi energy. I am also studying law of attraction. That's my focus as of now. But apart from that I don't have much experience. Almost all of what I know about spells (which is not a lot) comes from study and not much of actual practice. I mostly studied philosophical parts of religions/spiritual disciplines when searching for something that I could call my own.
No. Actually I was oblivious, to what now seems as obvious, that Wicca is so girly until you mentioned it. Haha. I did not truly join to begin with. I did learn about it tho. But when I did found Buddhism (with some Taoism mixed in there as well by the way) I felt like I did not had to search anymore, I felt like it fit me perfectly. It wasn't even feeling as I have found something new that fits me, it was like I did remember something I have forgotten but deep down knew all along.

So I just enjoyed the feeling and all my plans to study further other religions and to put those things in practice slowly faded in intensity. I am planning to get back to sorcery eventually. But my focus now are things that I can accomplish by using my own spirit (such as training Chi).

To be honest I've always viewed rituals that involve magical objects and other entities as secondary. I believe we all come from the same source and therefore have access to the same power. The difference between a pagan god and us is that we have forgotten our true potential. So why would I need to make a ritual to ask for help from some entity when I can manifest what I want myself. That's my philosophy of in now anyways. It wasn't so clear back in a day when I was thinking about worshiping Anubis and doing spells. But ultimately I figured that I do not want to be anybody's servant. Maybe I'm just have too big of an ego for that. Ironically, I'm thinking that I might just be a servant of it. O well, my evolution is not yet finished.

Well girls usually like those kinds of things ya know; nature, candles... brooms. :D

By the way, back to Chi that I mentioned, that's very much goes in line with NoFap. Since it is believed that this energy is lost during ejaculation. They say "where focus goes energy flows". So energy = focus. And if magick is defined as as science and art of making things happen in conformity with will then nofap (and self disciple in general) seems to be beneficial practices for a practitioner. Because that's what will is - a concentrated focus. So basically wouldn't that be good Satanist's excuse for doing nofap? :)

Satanism comes off as discordianism behind a psychodramatic spoof of the Catholic Church. Like using the term Satanism when acknowledging Satan means you acknowledge the Christian god... It's a mockery of the church bust still witholding beliefs behind the symbol or character. This is similar to the Church of the Subgenius Mind that openly promotes their religion as a business and believes in the return of Bob.
I learned to read tarot cards out of an interest of the occult and Aleister Crowley, but I perceive it as a pragmatic use of symbols to help us read out subconscious in the present time which I picked up from Jungian though of dreams and archetypes. This led me to learning about chaos magick and the idea of hacking your own mind to control your reality basically willing your own reality through using symbols and meditation. I think this is also similar to what Christian SxiemtisS believe, and the Master Key System as well as The Secret.
There are some discordianism beliefs that that we are born into a world of chaos and we never chose to be here. The act of conceiving a child is actually a form of chaos because it creates. Death is law and balances the chaos.
Then pantheism believes that all things in existence are the same being. We are all part of what we call god, but some pantheist see it more biologically. Something like Gaia theory.
I kinda just went stream of consciousness and babbled there for a minute...
What I was trying to get to was that I know some takes of Satanism can actually be very humanistic. I think that even a Satanist that means more to the value of ego could see that semen retention has a benefit that bolstersbols ego by strengthening your presence. I know even LaVey talked about the importance of your presence and being able to command a room. Even the idea of being god gives your will greater importance in that you can make your will reality whether that's self-serving or benevolence.
Some chaos magick practitioners will actually use orgasm in lieu of deep meditation to ingrain your will onto a sigil that represents your goal. So the idea that orgasm is powerful and reality bending already exists in esoteric thought. It has physical, mental and spiritual impact.
Another random thought is the Yazidi belief that Lucifer is actually the angel that acts as Earth's gaurdian and his conflict with god was not that he did not want to serve god, but that he didn't want to serve man because he was created to only be loyal to god's will. I guess in that regard the two are symbiotic.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness format. I hope something of it pertains to your original post. I'm a homosexual man who grew up in the Catholic Church so I got interested in other religions and philosophies when I accepted what I am and had internal conflict of "why would god make me how I am then bring me in this world against the free will I didn't know I had just to hate me". Naturally that made me pilfer, explore and dabble. I believe Satan represents the animal in man and the material things that bind us to this world and he is equally divine because he also represents free will and independent thought. We hold the key to the shackles we put on ourselves.

Are you an anarchist? No faith in created things that have imaginary value such as money, gods, kings or governments because they are the root of all of mansm problems. Horizontal organization versus a hierarchy.

  16. God has helped me in everything in life, but definitely in this area as well.

Sexual impurity is already something Jesus says we shouldn't engage in, and he doesnt say any of that stuff or make any of those "rules" to take away our enjoyment of life. He says it to enhance our enjoyment of life, by helping us to live rightly and healthily.

You're seeing, now, some of the evidence that a life free from those rules is not a better, happier existence. It brings destruction, which is why God says not to do it, because He loves us and wants what is best for us. Like a parent telling their child not to run around on the wet pavement by the pool, even though the kid is laughing and playing and having a good time. In the child's mind, the parent is taking away his joy for no reason. But the parent knows better. He knows that way will likely end in pain. We are like children compared to the vastness of God's knowledge, and He knows far better than we do what will give us lasting joy and what will only be fleeting happiness that ends in pain or emptiness.

Another great thing is the grace of God. That's something I hadn't fully understood until a few years ago, despite being a Christian my whole life. I was always a perfectionist and lived in a lot of guilt and shame when I did something wrong, but that is NOT what God is about at all. He is so full of unconditional love and grace, and when we make a mistake, he doesnt disown us or condemn us. He wants us to come back to him and admit our faults and ask for help, so he can set us free. That's been a really important lesson for me to learn through this addiction, because this stuff is hard, and I know I will continue to fail at it, possibly my entire life. But there is so much freedom in knowing that you are loved and accepted, even with all of your faults.

All Satan wants is destruction for you. He wants you to buy into the lie that a life without God and without morals will make you happier. He wants you to see us religious people as slaves bound in chains by our rules, when in reality, its quite the opposite. Those boundaries set us free of our chains. PMO is not freedom, it's a chain. Purity is not a chain, its freedom and joy. I have found, time and time again, that the absolute most joyful times in my life were the times when I was living life close to God. All the times I have felt broken or angry or depressed or worthless or any other negative thing, I was not walking as closely with God.

I dont know where you're at or whether or not you're ready to consider any of this, but I really hope you at least give it some thought. Satan wants nothing but to see you crash and burn, and he will do that by selling you something that sounds fun and making you view rules and "religion" as a chain, rather than the freedom it really is. It's like someone coming along and telling a child that if they come live with them, they'll let them eat candy and drink soda all day long and have no rules and just play. We all know, as adults, that a child with no rules or structure will become spoiled rotten, and they will NOT have a happy life. It's a lie, and Satan is the master of lies. It would be well worth your time to at least consider that and look into it more closely.

I wish you all the best in this time of questioning, and I hope you find what is good and true <3

No. That's called Leveyenism, has nothing to do with Satan as a spiritual being, my gosh (rolls eyes). It's a philosophy. True Satanism is underground and will never be found online or in a book. Apparently illuminati are Satinists.
