  2. My friend in AA said this to me today when I told him I keep trying to quit watching porn and amsturbating for ATLEAST 30 days and always fail.... He said did that work when you were trying to quit drinking? Why don’t you stop putting so much pressure on yourself and see if you can’t make it through the rest of the day without it.”

And honestly that helped me a lot.

@Randox I've just noticed your 12,900 likes on 395 posts.. how have you accumulated so many? That's around 32x per post, but i've never ever seen 30 likes for a post.

Great man, I guess that's your record! I remember the first time I reached 30 about 2 years ago, it was huge also! Keep on pushing and you'll achieve even better results

  9. I downloaded the app and I’m hoping it will aid me through this. As far as keeping my perspective realistic. Like noticing that I have actually made progress. I want to say CONGRATS to you for making thirty days. I think I remember having zero days with you thirty days ago. So YOU GO for making it.

One thing I want to bring up is that I’m going to start refusing to be so hard on myself... because literally EVERYONE I KNOW struggles with this same problem. I told another friend about it today and he was like “Yeah I know the struggle all too well” and then “I don’t struggle anymore because I’m not trying to quit”

And I was like damn... at least he put it honest lmao.

So that’s pretty much encouraging for me... I know I’m making progress and I’m not the only one who struggles. If I can really do this then I may be able to help others do the same thing. So I’m just going to take it day by day for now.

  11. Thank you for appreciation. Reaching 30 days has not been without struggles and sometimes fighting urges until the morning hours!

Glad to know that you downloaded the app to get some perspective on your journey. What I like about the calendar app is that you can see percentage increase or decrease and actually know whether you are improving or regressing over a long period of time. With a calendar app the goal is not perfection but improvement. When one sees that they are making percentage improvement overall when it comes to abstinent days versus relapse days then one can get encouraged. A counter many times makes us seek perfection, an all or nothing scenario, which is not a good thing. So I emphasize again seek improvement not perfection. I started viewing it like that. If one month you see you have a success rate of say 60% no PMO the next month seek to make an improvement of say 70% no PMO and so on and so forth. All the while you may be gaining some emotional stability which in my opinion is greater than the number of abstinent days.

I think both of us are escaping some 'trapped' or 'memorized' negative emotions from earlier in our lives. Healing from the past is a very important part of this process I believe. Personally, I can't afford a therapist but I read a lot of psychology based books and books on brain science to compensate and I can say I am painstakingly and very slowly coming to terms with the past.

I agree that you need to make this journey a little easier on yourself and even set smaller goals. Freedom from porn is one day at a time at the end of it all.

  12. Thanks for the recognition! Actually, I have had streaks of 66 and 80 days before but I really struggled and I relied more on sheer willpower and grit to get me through. But this time, I feel it is easier as I have recognized that I need to do more inner work (spirituality, character development, mediation for emotional healing) than outer work (cultivating habits such as cold showers, regular exercise) though I still have those super strong urges that arise from time to time. Congrats on achieving 150 days by the way! You are doing really great.
