This is true. The reason that the birthrates are so low is because people focus more on working and do not attempt to have relationships because they know work will get in the way. I suppose the pornography industry is so strong there is because they really need a substitute for real women. Quite sad.

The Great Western Firewall of China must be doing it's job. I'm not saying the Chinese Communist Party dictatorship is a good thing, rather the opposite. However, I will give them credit for blocking out bad western influences like pornography. Imagine if a western government did this, the outcry about loosing freedom! When in reality someone addicted to porn or sex has no freedom, they're stuck in a horrible cycle that's very hard to control and get out of.

As of April 2019 the UK is set to enforce age verification to access porn. It was due to come in to effect April 2018 but the Government realised they hadn't thought all the technical implications through and the infrastructure wasn't ready.

When I first heard about it I was very anti. Now that I see how hard it is to break free of porn I am a bit more pro than before.

My only concern is the privacy implications of this.

1. There will be databases held on those individuals choosing to verify their ages to view porn. This no doubt will put names to sites. Revealing peoples sexual preferences. Goodness knows what the government can get up to with this information.

2. This is the most important one. Data breaches / hacking are inevitable. It happens. That is a truth. This sort of information is going to be a massive target and how devastating will it be for this information to leak out on to the public internet??

In other words, blocking porn is a good ideal but the implementation is what's the problem.

 

It's definitely not a bad thing. It's about time the government intervenes. After all internet is public domain. It's not because you can access wireless technology from the privacy of your home that there shouldn't be any legal restrictions. IMO limiting some of kids' privacy is a small price to pay given the risks porn can cause in terms of their mental health. We all know how toxic porn is. Illegalizing for minors is the least that can be done. Good to hear the world is waking up.
