Life is rigged

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Dec 31, 2018.

  1. I take all responsibility for my actions, but do you ever just think it’s bullshit how some of us found NoFap so late in life? NoFap is even better than ‘P’. I just wish I had this knowledge prior to my addiction. Could’ve saved me a bunch of time and unnecessary bullshit

Earlier generations probably said the same thing about learning that smoking was harmful too. In the 1970s people actually thought that was healthy, so imagine you were born in 1940, taken up smoking, then found out in the 80s how bad smoking really was?

The fact is, life isn't fair. Never has been, never will be. Hey, it could be worse, you could have been born somewhere like Syria, and spent your formative years dodging bullets for reasons that were no fault of your own. I think we should all just embrace the positive aspects, and be grateful that we now know the harm that porn causes.

  3. That's actually a good comparison man. I'm sure if someone were to tell you smoking was bad back then they'd just laugh in your face, in the same way you talk about NoFap to someone today. You're right, others have it worse. I think we have a duty to stop this shit before it plagues the next generation

The best thing we can do to "stop this shit" is to get our own lives in order. Too many people overcomplicate porn addiction (I did for a long time). We think we're fighting against the porn industry, the modern sexualised culture, the government, whatever. The truth is, we're only fighting against ourselves. We don't need to tell others what they should or shouldn't be doing, we need to show a positive example by our own behaviour. Once others see us demonstrate what is possible, they will follow.

  5. True dat. Just like George Orwell once said: "Happiness can only exist in acceptance."

But hey look at the plus side, at least you found out there was a problem and found this place. Some people don't even get to this point
