Nofap is so difficult

    To make a long story short I've been on nofap for a good while now. I have experienced the super powers of nofap as well as the horrible moments of nofap. But the reason its so difficult to me is because when i have those super powers i take advantage of how good my life is going and ruin it by edging. Then i go into a wave of depression for a few days and then the super powers come back and i do it all over again. Can anyone give me some advice on how to stop edging when i experience joy.

    I think you need to replace your alone time with another activity like gym or studying. NoPMO is great but it is super important you replace habits with productive ones so you can build a new reward system. Good luck bro thanks for your post.

    Yes your right. All the bad things happen to me when im alone. I have to start doing activities like you said. Im gonna start running so i can burn some fat off. Thank you for your advice man i appreciate it.

    Yeah you absolutely MUST exercise while observing nofap. Whether that is cardio or weight lifting.. It is honestly just as important as the nofap part imo.

    You need to dedicate yourself to doing 30-40 minutes of weight lifting or jogging or swimming or whatever you like. Doesn't have to be every day but 4-5 times a week I think.

    @Matt21994 youve conditioned your brain now to get triggered by joy, so when you feel happy you'll feel like edging as if it was some sort of routine.

    So i think you should treat joy as a trigger. If you know youre in a good mood, you must know what you can and can not do. And maybe try a new routine.

    So your brain can learn to assosiate joy with another activity.

    So you need to break the cycle. What healthier and realistic alternatives do you think you can do when youre feeling the highs? Maybe start with someone small and that wont need alot of effort to do but that you also enjoy doing. And work up on that.

    I felt like edging this morning too but i didnt and instead replied to my APs and tried to send encouraging messages on here. And now I'll go get ready for the day.

    So you must force your mind to focus on something else in that moment.

    Do hard and your life will be easy, Do easy and your life will be hard.
    It is really hard but is worth it for sure. Give up fapping for the sake of true sexual indulgence.
    Replace it with sexual intercourse with your ( you may have) partner and IMO that's totally fine as with the help of noFap you're gonna build up a better sexual life as well as all the benefits it will have on your life in general.

    See man edging can ruin your streak.
    You need to give importance to the first bad thought that arrive in your mind.
    Observe your self, if the thought continue you need to do some action to divert your mind completely from it.

    Edging is very dangerous (although you never release) as it still generates plenty of dopamine and those high levels will never be reached through normal everyday things. Hence, you will still feel dull, depressed and like things are standing still which is one reason for why edging is only one degree in hell better than releasing. It will just generate the same compulsive and addictive behaviors as before so for your own best, cut out the edging as well.

    Keep in mind; that in order to see those crazy improvements and benefits from NoFap, you got to have quite good habits in place to replace the void/gap that will appear. That means:

    -Eating healthy and nutritious food (lots of veggies and fruits).
    -Exercising regularly
    -Meditating
    -Reading a lot (to keep your mind occupied and strengthen your ability to focus)
    -Getting enough rest and recovery.

    I started to experience the crazy benefits after already 10-11 days because I already had many healthy and good habits in place so there wasn't much of a void when I finally gave up PMO.

    Your english is actually really good and what you're saying makes alot of sense so dont worry about it okay.

    I was reading up on withdraws with my AP and he said it takes about 30 days for your brain to re adjust in a way. But before that your brain is craving for the PMO because its so used to getting it by now. And since youve been using PMO to escape or for whatever reason you use PMO for - your brain feels like it needs it to survive. So youre having withdrawls, thats why at first the more days you accumulate the worse the cravings get.

    But you need to be patient with yourself, and you cant give up on yourself. And you're trying so hard. 22 days is something to be really proud of, and your brain will adjust in time. Its just all thous hours youve spent PMOing, its changed how your brain works, so you need to be patient with yourself and kind to yourself. Just like you were able to mold it to be sex crazed you can mold it to be different again, it just needs time.

    But keep doing what you're doing and filling your mind with upbuilding stuff, learn something new, be passionate about something, keep busy. You'll be fine.

    And well done okay, youre doing really well.

    When i was going through it just like you, I didn't really know much about the brain chemicals in the brain. I just thought, yep, i'm healed, I've got the superpowers so I can do whatever I like, and it wouldn't affect me. But the thing is what you've got to understand is, if you keep on edging, your just damaging your brain more. Excess dopamine gets into your brain, which is why it feels so fucking good. The reason why you're depressed is because after you come out of that high, your dopamine receptors can't handle the excess dopamine in the brain, which causes you to feel like shit!

    When you feel like edging, just remember how you felt when you were depressed. Because think about it like this man, if you keep on edging, it's just gunna be a cycle that you're going to be in. Don't you want to be free of this addiction. You never know, you could die at any time man. The benefits just get better and better as you abstain

    Sorry it took me so long to respond, been busy, but im doing better. I know that im going to have to go through withdrawals again because im getting the random anxiety i got when i started nofap, but i know it will pass because it always does. I have relapse doing nofap so many times that i know the withdrawals i will experience.
