    Hi guys,

So for the past 3 or 4 days I've been trying really hard to not PMO. In the past I used to M in order to avoid P. This helped the urges subside. But now I want to stop PMO for good. Issue is I relapsed today after having PMO on my mind for 3 days. The urge just would not leave me. Every time I was in the house it was such a struggle to leave and not PMO. Eventually I gave in. How do you see through the urges? Do they ever subside? I tried pouring cold water but that is only a short term solution. Would really appreciate the advice

Yeah, the urges will subside - or show up less - but it's always the few days on the start that makes it tough as bricks. :)
Do not give up on this, you can quit PMO.

Yes, they will subside with time but the time it takes for it to happen depend on a few factors:

-For how long and frequently you have been PMO:ing.
-Your age, physical- and physical health.
-Your overall diet (a healthier diet makes the urges subside faster)
-The number of productive activities you have to replace PMO with when the urges hit.

Of course, the first few weeks are the absolutely toughest but once you are past 30 days, the urges will be much easier to control. But as I said: it all depends on the factors above. If you have a poor diet, are overweight, never exercise or meditate and have few productive and fulfilling activities in your life, it will take a very long time before you will feel any significant benefits.

I remember that the first days are the hardest, i mean the first 2-3 days, and then the first month.

After that it become easier to not fall into porn, but not that easy. If you had this addiction for 10 years, or 20 years like me, you will have to consider yourself at risk for the rest of your life and never lower your guard.

Right now i don't feel any urge to look at porn at all, and probably didn't feel the urge to look at porn after day 20-30, but i feel the urge to meet escorts, for example.

  6. There will always be urges, but they will quiet down with time. Try exercise to burn off the adrenaline and hormones.

  8. Hi Yohankhan. I used to do the same thing - MO to control the urges to look at P. It did work sometimes but sometimes I would MO several times over a period of a few days until I needed more stimulation by fantasizing and eventually succumbing to P in order to be able to MO. I too am on a journey to get PMO complete out of my life. I second what has been said so far. I’ve been able to resist urges over the past 27 days. I would say filling my life with worthwhile pursuits and goals and staying away from triggers has helped me a lot. The thing that has helped the most is to have friends here on NoFap that I’ve been able to reach out to for support when I’m having a rough time. Best of luck to you! :)

  9. YES AND NO.

Even though after the first few weeks one experiences certain freedom from the continual demands of the urges, the danger remains.

In the first phase of the recovery, the urges are so consistent that one is on a constant lookout and while this is challenging it is also helpful because one becomes super diligent to do the daily workout, fasting and keeping good company.

The challenge starts after a few weeks or months off PMO, the ego slowly starts to develop a sense of pride thinking it is free from all temptations and that's when one starts to let go of the disciplines and lifestyle changes, and eventually a new temptation will come out of the blue and make one relapse.

So i'm having the attitude that this is a lifetime commitment and while it does get easier - it never really get easier because even though I feel good now, so many odd situations can bring back the old addicted mind!

THe brain is conditioned to mate with attractive women and while we are alive we are going to have to be vigilant and practice self control

History is full of great saintly beings, who have reached great heights of power through vital celibacy only to lose it to temptation out of the blue.

Power and attention can be very sneaky. WE have to be VERY careful for the rest of our life.

We are ONE temptation away from going back to the same old addicted self - or even worst.

This is not a negative thing this is the way things are, knowing this enables us to resolve to take on the challenge for LIFE!

  10. Amen brother. I’m a NoFap member for life. It’s when we think it’s okay to let our guard down that it sneaks up and bites us again. I’ve learned that lesson the hard way. Never again my friend. Never again.

Thank you very much bro. Just out of interest how much has working out helped You? I've been pumping weights and not going to lie I've had very little dopamine release.

  14. hey, bro working out has been like an anti-depressant for me. I become super social and energized after a workout. I tend to get too social and too much energized that I have to do some meditation to calm myself down - otherwise too much excitement can also be destructive and wasteful.

    Some suggestions...

If you are not feeling the dopamine may be you are resting too long between your sets and your workouts are too low intensity and too long. What i find works best is to keep my workouts very short (40min max) and never stand still - So I normally do this.

Pick 2 weight training exercises and 1 yoga asana - Squats + Hanging leg raises + Warrior asana

Then do your squats for 12 reps (nice and slow good form) then do a mini active rest by walking for 30 seconds or jumping slightly up/down - then do the hanging leg raises right away for 12 reps - then again do a mini-active rest for 30seconds and then go to do yoga posture and hold for 1 minute or so - then back to squats.

This is is just as an example. I find that keeping intensity high - and rest minimum (without too much exhaustion though) it enables me to push harder and the harder I push the more dopamine gets released.

Then There is the cold shower therapy and the breathing (Win Hof Method) which I do right after/end of my workout - this has been also scientifically proven to improve dopamine levels.

Also, even though I don't done the scientific research to back up this theory, i believe your dopamine levels are also affected by your perspective in life, harmony in your relationships and harmony with yourself.

So we can benefit by having a routine to continuously forgive those who do us harm or upset us, forgiving ourselves if we fall short.

Yes they do. There will come a point where even thinking of masturbation will feel weird and stupid.

  16. I go running for 30 mins. It does the trick for me. Weights don’t work for me either.

At beginning urges are strong, then there usually is a period with less urges. However be aware and on your guard, urges may sneek upon you after a couple of weeks or months. It is not linear.

For me, now after more than 500 days, I started to forget how porn felt, and how a "fix" felt. I see it as a good sign. But however i never fully relax about this drug :)

I have found that when I did a high intensity 'HIT' workout I definitely felt a lot better. But I think my issue is I want to get stronger and look better. I've decided to take up boxing. There is a boxing gym near me plus I'm going to buy some weights for my house so I can still work on my strength but go all out with the boxing which will tire me out like hell. Thanks again mate!!
