Is intentional orgasm during lucid dreaming considered masturbation (intentionally induced w dream)?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jan 12, 2019.

  1. I know that generally wet dreams are not considered relapse in this community because they are out of one's control. But what if one is lucid during a dream? That means they have control.

I had orgasm during a wet dream. I'm not sure whether this brakes the rules of my reboot which says: "no masturbation". It was a dream where I had sex and not masturbated. But the thing is it was also a lucid dream, at least partly lucid. I knew I was dreaming and I found somebody to have sex with cos I missed the feeling of orgasm.

It's like that desire possessed me and I could not control myself (kinda the same way as relapse would be in real life). I am not sure whether I was 100% conscious (but then again, we never are during a relapse) because as soon as I woke up right before orgasm I immediately regretted and tried to stop it.

But basically it's like a masturbation (which is defined as stimulating one's genitals for pleasure) cos I caused it intentionally to myself. But also it was sex in a dream and not MO in a dream, so technically it was sex. But then again dream is MO cos I am having sex with myself in my head.

I'm confused. Does intentionally induced wet dream via having sex during lucid dream is considered masturbation? I did not touch myself once I woke up, in fact I tried to stop it by flexing PC, didn't work tho. Please tell me what you think?

  2. This is an interesting question, @100100110000011001101 (where does that username come from?).

I don't know the answer, because it's such a grey area. Here are my thoughts.

I wouldn't consider it to be a relapse, as it's just the once and is unlikely to have set your brain back, but I guess that it might be a reset as it was deliberate.

Generally, a wet dream isn't a reset (nor is it a relapse) because it's completely out of your control.

If you do it again, though, I'd definitely reset. It might even be a relapse then — I am unsure what effect lucid dreaming of sex with real orgasm does to your brain.

I would suggest that you look inside, and ask what your gut feeling is. Does it feel right to reset or right to continue with your counter? Remember that your counter is really for your own information, and not to show off to other people, so it's about you, not about others.

To put it another way: Would keeping the counter unchanged sabotage your healing, or would this just be a blip in a journey?

Go with your gut feeling rather than what we tell you.

As an aside, if you were so close to orgasm, it's better that you did orgasm, because edging is much worse than completing.

Might I suggest that you avoid lucid dreaming until you consider yourself to be healed?

Oh, and watch out for the possible chaser effect. Be strong!

  3. The point is beating an addiction (unless you believe in magical superpowers).

I'd go as far as to say that being a fanatic abstinent is almost as bad as being a compulsive masturbator.

Unless you do this every night I wouldn't worry about it.

  4. Usually I try to stop my unintentional wet dreams even. If I menage to get lucid during a wet dream I usually try to force myself to wake up before it's too late. I've even stopped few wet dreams by waking up during mid orgasm by flexing PC muscle real hard. I am kind of fanatic about this. So I was actually very surprised when I woke up that I have done the opposite this time. :(

I don't know what my gut tells me. I guess I have to think about it.

  5. It's obviously binary code lol

  6. It looks like it, but count the digits: 21. It doesn't fit into any standard encoding such as ASCII.

  7. Don't overthink it haha. The code is flawed, it needs to be re-edited.

I copy pasted the wrong stuff from my notes when I was making an account cos it looked similar. I'm not sure whether I can change username on this forum...

  8. You can indeed change your username. However, I don't know what happens in posts where you've been tagged; do those references also change? If you change your username to something quite different, people will no longer recognise that it's you.

If you do change your username, let us know. I'll tag you here @100100110000011001101 so that if you do change your username, we'll see the change right here!

EDIT: I can't read. If you change your username, all posts that reference you won't be changed.

  9. Awesome! Thanks for link! I thought I will have to bother admins and ask them to do it manually so I didn't want to do that, but this is great!

  10. Ah ha! You've changed your username, and I see "IAM", which I presume means "I am". Judging from your avatar, is this to do with the movie remake of Asimov's "I, Robot"? Or have I misinterpreted?

Interestingly, a Google search gives me a strange YouTube video!

  11. Space exceeded max character limit for usernames so... :emoji_unamused:

    "I, Robot" is a good movie. :)

  12. I do counter wet dreams now. Takes time, but if your body develops a natural pattern of light sleep more than deep sleep, you can wake up shen something does not feel right anymore. And for me, its sexual activities, seeing that my goal is no PM and O.
Waking up during a dream is good too. Takes a while to go back to sleep, but the no O gives me more energy during the rest of the day, comparing it to when i O during a dream.

Not sure how it works for others. But I am around 100+ days so, it might take some time to develop this??? Not sure...

  13. Is it healthy to prevent deep sleep? Your body does a tremendous amount of healing during deep sleep, and all of the research that I've read has confirmed its value to your long-term health.

  14. I still feel a little OCD about this wet dream thing yesterday...

  15. I would let it go. Leave your counter unchanged for now. I suggest that you don't do this again while lucid dreaming. If your body wants to ejaculate for health reasons, it will do so while you sleep.

Allow yourself both deep sleep and non-lucid dreaming, although you can lucid dream as well if you choose.

  16. Maybe I'm a little late but had EXACTLY the same situation today. And it made me think about consequences of having sex while lucid dreaming. I think that the right thought was "Reset, if you persist" because these actions reinforce brain patterns responsible for the same thing in a real life. For example, masturbating in real life and masturbating in a lucid dream will use SAME neural paths. I wouldn't count just wet dreams though because in a regular sleep your prefrontal cortex is shut down and you don't have a chance to stop yourself -- I'd say it's unfair to count it as a relapse/reset.
