what are you doing to improve your life?

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Jan 19, 2019.

  1. On my NoFap journey i have improved a lot, especially when i realized NoFap is so much more than just quitting porn, its a life style, its about resisting evil and bettering your life though all kinds of ways, so what are the ways you are improving yourself right now?, here is mine.
    1. no pmo - my confidence and happyness is way up, anxiety, and depression have decreased drastically, my emotions are starting to get stronger, for example music gives me so many chills unlike before which i never had any, and i am treating my body and might right.
    2. yoga - i love doing yoga, being flexible is one of the best feeling in the world, something about being able to fold yourself up and doing splits is so rewarding, its almost sexual in a way or very sensual, its about being intune with your body.
    3. healthy eating - i hardly eat anything bad anymore, i think the last bad thing i ate was like reeces that someone got me, i eat lots of chicken and i drink lots of green tea, i crave that stuff, and i drink veggie drinks daily, they consist of broccoli, spinach, apple, greek yogurt, orange juice, water, bananas, celery, so its pretty healthy. I have been trying to drink less milk because it makes me have acne, and i need to start implementing more fruits and veggies.
    4. exercising - i have started to run in the morning at 6 am and it feels great honesty, and when i get home i do 100 pushups and abs which is not a lot but straight after a run it is, and once that is finished i reward myself with a hot cup of delicious green tea and yoga, i also lift weights when i can, my workout partner quit so i have a hard time getting out there sometimes, and my gym is in my back yard so i really have no excuse.
    5. meditation - pretty sure like everyone on here does this and if not START!!!!!, its so so so important, it calms your mind and increases focus, it gives you time to really focus on yourself and gives you time for self reflection, my stress and anxiety drop drastically when i do it, its just something every human needs and its sad so little do it.
    6. sticking to my morals and biblical principle - when i got very serious about my religion and i started putting action behind my words, i changed a lot, for example i used to eat everyone in the houses food whenever i felt like it, thats stealing and you should be ashamed of it, in the past year the only thing i took without permission was a donut, and i felt super bad afterwords, i was depressed when i did it but thats no excuse for what i did, but thats pretty good compared to the daily thievery i used to do. And when i started changing is when i got serious about porn, and about everything i was doing.
There is likely more things i am not thinking of, let me know what you guys are doing!.

  2. Exercise is key for me. Getting 100% accountable to myself about my progress has also been key to moving forward. Nofap is a way of life and i'm on day 30 of p-mode today.

  4. You too man. Sounds like you are on the path. May I suggest meditation and mindfulness as well. I like the Headspace app!

  5. i do both, i like the app but having to pay is not my thing.

  6. Only thing i'l say about paying for the app is we will not think twice about buying a PS4 game or other material things but when it comes to this I believe that there is no better spent money than on this and our mental health. Goodluck with your recovery bro

I exercise, and also translate sermons an articles to my language and put them online for other people to read and benefit. Try to spend quality time with my daughter too.

Calisthenics: I want to build explosive strength and a nimble body. Backflips, dragon flags and human flags are badass.

Also, I need to be able to protect myself if I HAVE TO fight. I need to get stronger for this. I think this will give hidden confidence.
Flexibility routine: Correlates with the above.
Reading: Reading books written by succesful doctors on gut health etc. Or basic car mechanics, programming.(future topics)
Wood working (in the near future): Some part of me wants to make sculptures/things from wood. Just seems cool.

That's it for now, and trying to better myself in social situations etc.

    Nofap. ;)

  10. 2, (5) and 6 are extremely contradicting.

    1. Praying Everyday, at least one hour (excluding praying in tongues). Regaining power and getting closer to God each time.
    2. Fasting Sometimes during vacation time, not regularly. The longer, the stronger you'll get mentally and the more patient you'll be.
    3. Evangelizing, healing, driving out demons Sharing the Gospel with strangers or acquaintances, praying for the sick and hurt and less frequently driving out demons. The foolish and lazy will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Boosting my confidence and makes me more social.
    4. Music Singing along old time country gospel while driving to work/somewhere else. Playing guitar and sometimes harmonica. Getting close(st) to Jesus through music.
    5. Sports Currently, I'm mostly evangelizing online in my free time. So, I do not walk around to talk to people and during work I'm only sitting. I started to pick up ice skating again after a very long time (ironically, I did much better the first time I retried it and did not fall once) and playing some hockey together with a friend. Met an older skilled guy yesterday on the rink who's extremely willing to teach us for free. Will start doing body exercises again.
    Making me fit again.

  11. i agree, if it betters your life than its likely worth spending a little money on.

  12. i also train to protect myself, well i used to, i took taekwondo for 3 years, but i never was serious about training, if i could find a teacher who could like set me up a routine at home i would be able to get into it i think, its just having to guess if i am doing it right annoys me, like if you watch those shaolin temple videos they all have stations, one might be punching a pole or another might be doing forms, i want a set up like that, also a sparring partner would be nice.

  13. Be careful brother. Mixing 2 and 5 with 1 and 6 dangerous. There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.

    1) NoFap: obviously :). Less mind-fog, more motivation and less social phobia are some of the main things I feel I am getting from it

    2) Working on my social phobia: I do "exposure" twice a week, once with a group of other social phobics where we do presentations in front of each other etc, and one thing called Comfort Zone Crushing where you go out and do things like lying down in the middle of the street to work on not caring too much what other people think.

    3) Exercise: Jogging for general fitness and health, and core strengthening for my lower back pain. At least twice a week. Did martial arts before (wushu/kung fu), would be cool to pick it up again someday, it is probably my ideal form of training.

    4) Learning to play the piano: have wanted to do it for years and am now starting to make some progress, i love it!

    5) Working through psychological issues from childhood: Am studying psychology, going to therapy and doing own research and work on myself. I want to heal old wounds that are holding me back from living out my life fully.

    6) Developing self-love and self-compassion: being kinder and more caring in relation to myself and less critical.

    7) Eating more healthy: drastically reduced sugar intake, and eating fruit and veg every day, as well as green tea, fish oil, dark chocolate. Eating less meat.

I think those are the main things for me atm :). For me I feel like all of these are interlinked and synergize with each other. Like, NoFap gives me more motivation to do the things I've always wanted, like playing the piano. Doing the things I always wanted to do makes me feel good about myself and not like a failed piece of shit, which makes me more confident and less socially anxious. Less social anxiety means I have less of a need to numb my anxiety with porn, and so on and so forth like an upward spiral. I feel it is impornat to adress ALL aspects of your life at the same time and not just one part, while neglecting the other things. Otherwise the parts of your life that you are most neglecting may end up being the weakest link in your life, pulling you down and sabotaging the parts you are working on (like NoFap).
