Is NoFap all about cutting out the shortcut to happiness?

When you cut out the shortcut to happiness (PMO), you will slowly understand that the only way to feel good is to create positive habits and a healthy lifestyle.

Let's say you're used to PMO for hours each time you're hungover. Now you associate alcohol withdrawal syndrome (hangover) with a lot of fun (from PMO) and this is why you feel positive about drinking.

Now on NF, you notice that the hangover is no longer fun when you cannot self medicate with PMO. You start to associate drinking with NEGATIVE feelings while hungover which makes you to view drinking negatively and you will indeed reduce drinking.

Same goes for simply staying at home doing nothing. If you reward yourself for being lazy and not doing anything useful or going out, you start to subconsciously associate being lazy with a big reward.

People on decent streaks like to do something useful with all their time. Is this because you're no longer rewarding yourself for being lazy? Might be!

When you stop rewarding yourself for negative things like having a hangover, staying home doing nothing and so on, you will subconsciously recondition yourself to stopping those habits and creating more positive habits since that's the only way to feel good now that there's no more shortcuts to happiness (PMO).

So is the point of nofap actually learning that you cannot feel good until you do something healthy and useful?

It’s about learning that the fleeting pleasure you get from PMO isn’t happiness at all.
