38 yo gay male / very excited to be here

Hi everyone,

I’m a 38 year-old gay man who’s always “low-key” struggled with ED. I never considered myself to be addicted to Porn or masturbation before but now that I’ve discovered this NoFap concept it just resonates with me very deeply. Many thoughts have come to my mind to why I would experienced ED. I started my sexual life at around 9 years old when I would play around with some of my cousins (I feel very comfortable exposing this on here as I assume this is a judge-free zone).

It wasn’t until I was around 15 years old that I started getting noticed by girls and as I grew up in South America, society pushed me to try dating girls although I knew I was gay and I had already had sex with boys. I would attempt having sex with girls but I wasn’t very successful most of the times. That’s how my level of sexual confidence started to decrease and insecurities started to kick in. I remembered I started PMO when I was 16/17 years old.

Looking at it now, I never saw it as an issue as I don’t feel like I “overdid it” with the mentality that “that’s what teenagers do (j/o and watch porn)” but again, now that I’m 38 years old and my ED has always been an issue as well as my decreased libido I thought I’d try exploring the NoFap world to potentially find answers to this.

I decided to stop dating/having sex with women at 23 but sex has always been “uncomfortable” and a cause of anxiety for me since I never know how I am going to perform. My relationships have never been longer than 2.5 years and sex has always been an issue due to my lack of libido which I know comes from the fact that I’m always anxious about experiencing ED. Sometimes I’m able to perform well when I am top (most of the times having to take sexual enhancers) but a lot of other times I am not able to and the frustration is awful.

For years, porn has always been there available for me. I wouldn’t say I’d use it everyday but it’s always been there and I’ve had my cycles. My last 2.5 year relationship has recently ended (about 2 months ago) and I have decided to go NoFap after I learned about it. Today is day 13 and going strong. I actually want to abstain for a while (also for spiritual reasons) so I’m very excited to have joined this community and I hope I meet like-minded people who have gone or are going through the same.
