Free will and nofap

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Infinite spirit, Feb 17, 2019.

  1. Just because something can be determined through physics does not mean that it will happen. Statistically speaking, you're gonna keep beating that worn out D of yours because you've fallen into a victim mentality.
People accross the span of history have challenged and overcome incredible odds utilizing their minds.
You want to stop the herk jerk, than use your mind and find a way to do it.
That is your will. You have a choice.
If reality is quantum, and science has moved that direction which is what ancient philosophies and mystical tradition knew, then there are infinite possibilities.
You have just as much of a chance to whip out your black and blue and scabby weiner and O over and OOVEERR again...as you do tograb yourself by the prefontal cortex and lead yourself into a successful, meaningful, and powerful life.
We do not have ultimate free will, but we have will and the freedom to choose.
Choose to allow your primitive body and brain to control you,
Or choose to evolve, transcend, and start grasping for free will.

Free will and Freedom are different. The first we all have, since we can choose either good or bad things. The second, we lose when we choose the bad stuff. Example: I have free will to consume pornography, but I lose my FREEDOM when I become addicted.

Now sometimes I can't say no to my willingness. So, I guess I lost my freedom.

  6. How does having two choices equate to Free Will?
If our ability to decide is broken down into two categories...where is the free will?
Everything that we do in this physical reality is limited.
The only place we have free will is in the mind.
If you choose to respond to anything, (ANYTHING I SAY!!!!), in this physical realm, then you do not have free will. You are a product of cause and effect.
Big bang/creation...billions of years...evolution...primates fucking eachother on psychedelics....aliens impregnating chimps....hunter gatherer tribes....farming....cities....inventions.....writing, art, war...all of it is cause and effect.
If you breathe because you need air to stay alive, you do not have free will.
If you need to eat because your body will shrivel up and die, you do not have free will.
If you choose good or you choose bad, you do not have free will.
Go head, right now, do this one thing....make yourself a fetus. Will yourself into the physical form of a fetus.
Or even this, will yourself into the mind state that a fetus has.
Or even this, go one month without food or water..
Or even this, keep your eyes closed for one day without moving.
    Ya can't do it.
Not without years and years and a millennia of training.
You have options, you have possibilities, you have potential outcomes...but unless you can train your Mind to become a Non-Observer, you will follow predetermined paths.
It has been tested in the quantum physics realm by way of the Double-Slit Experiment.

You're limiting your whole reality by stating
    AND

Guys it's really simple. Free will means that you have the free will to choose between choices. Anyone who doesn't think free will exists is either delusional or spends too much time on atheist blogs

  9. I would argue that anyone who thinks we have free will is delusional and doesn't understand the definition of free or will or choice.

  10. But then, I would argue that, any organic being capable of cognition is delusional.
I would also make a claim anyone who is delusional, does not have free will.
Therefore, no human being has free will.

Look guys ..its really simple . Let's suppose I did pmo the last week...if the time goes back I'm going to choose the same choice again because the universe is a mechanical system which followes linear laws.

Let's suppose you are right. That proves that there is no free will..if spending lots of time on atheists blogs will inevitably convince me that there is no free will..then there is no free will!!. It's just cause and effect.

Please guys..before arguing this topic..do the research and grasp what is really meant by the illusion of free will. Watch these videos to understand this concept..

  14. What resources are you utilizing in your claim that "...the universe is a mechanical system..."?
And how can you "go back" if this "mechanical universe" follows "linear laws"?

Laws of physics is linear laws in a sense that they are deterministic. Every event is happening according to the laws which means It can't be any other way. " if a footballer misses a penalty kick..if we go back in time millions of times he will miss it again and again and again"
. Please take some time to watch the videos I attached and then come back to talk with me.
    Thanks.

Hmm what your saying is interesting but it does beg the question of why does it seem like most people never leave their addictions behind and most keep repeating the same vicious cycle over and over again? Furthermore dosen’t seem like some people are destined to be addicts like even if they do the right thing and stay away from drugs and alcohol that something will always get them?

See this is where your issue lies. You confuse influence with dictation. Yes i agree that there are many factors which can influence your decision, but they do not dictate it! Take porn for example, it can influence me to jerk off, but does porn force me to masturbate? does it form a phantom hand and unzip my pants and rub me off? no it doesn't! In the end the choices you make are %100 your own and no one has a say on it.

You still don't get it. Whatever my action is..there has to be something which dictates it. This is how cause and effect works. Whether you fap to porn or not ..you don't have choice. I didn't want to dig so deep because this is not a philosophy forum after all..but the main reason there is no free will is because there is no "ego" inside your skull who can have free will. If you are religious person you might argue that it's the soul or whatever. .but scientifically speaking ..there is no "you". The body is just a robot following the programming of the universe .

I think the real issue here isn't about free will, It's about these realities which work against an atheistic world view. The atheists first went after morality and are claiming it is subjective, then they went after truth and said it's relative, next they are going after free will and saying it doesn't exist. Soon they will go after justice, dignity, family and virtue. I think they want to slowly chip away at everything that we hold as humans, and reduce us to nothing more then chemical processes of an unconscious universe.

    No thanks...

No ..the proplem is not that. The REAL problem is :do you care about knowing the raw truth as it is or do you only care about protecting your comfy beliefs even if it's wrong?
