What makes an addict a "heavy user"?, personal experience with porn that i want to share

A question i just think. I know this is the porn addiction section, but i want to take this in term of masturbation addiction as well, since i estimulated myself with porn over 15 years+. I dont feel like an porn addict but more a masturbation addict. Anyway is just a thought, since every time i relapse i do it watching that trash.

So, i read this term "heavy user" all over the place, refering as addicts who spend a lot more of time that "average" users do. I never see any technical references or graphs that says technically speaking what a "heavy user" is.

Im supposed to be a heavy user i guess, i watch P since age of 11 or 12, now im almost 30 years old and never stopped, just a couple of months ago where i found this place that changed my way to see certain things.

I suffer from PIED, and i gradually see how sex after sex i were lossing a lot of erectile power.

But besides of all of that, i feel like the progression of my recovery is way faster than other cases that i saw. To be honest i cant control it, but i managed to do a weekly streak like 2 or 3 times (8 days streak).

By the day 6 in all the cases, i feel more confortable with my self and all that benefits you guys talks about are more than present, they come really really fast and really really strong. I normally feel very bad for myself, and in just a couple of days i feel way stronger. NoFap works like magic to me, in matter of days.

Im supposed to be a heavy user. But i dont watch all that sissy or gay things that most of the people here use, im almost a soft core consumer, but i used to PMO during 16 years every day and multiple times. I used to be pervert with my photoshop skills, also i had incest thoughts sometimes. To be honest, felling like an addict but not a heavy user.... i guess?

Im supposed to be at the bottom of the pit, i feel kinda like that, but at the same time, i feel way stronger than a good portion of the people that surrounds me everyday. Obviously i have big troubles on relation with the oposite sex. I see here people who is really really young and has big big troubles in early stages of his life, lets say 20 years old, im talking all that sissy, scat, femdom stuff that is burning peoples brain, i see testimonies of guys who arent gay and are having sex with another males because of porn.

Well, to me not affected in that way, but im still a "heavy user" for use PMO during lots of times, but at the same time i dont destroyed myself as much as other people, and reboot works like a rocket to me, in just the firsts days!

So the concept of heavy user is pretty ambiguous. Im not feeling like a heavy user buy im supposed to be. Can someone calificate me? :p

I just taked this place to say something that i wanted. Thank you

Not that "normal" user is healthy, cause it's not, any amount of pmo is unhealthy... but i would consider heavy user anyone that

    • (first and foremost) can't function normally/optimally without masturbation/watching porn or erotic content /sexually fantasizing. That is, he has trouble sleeping, concentrating, has anxiety/depression, mood swings etc.
    • masturbates/watches porn or erotic content/sexually fantasizes more than one time per day
    • masturbates more than 1 time per week (not that 1 time is healthy, cause it's not)
    • masturbates/watches porn or erotic content/sexually fantasizes more than 10-15 minutes per session
    • masturbates/watches porn or erotic content/sexually fantasizes to any type of porn that is not solo female or POV (not that those are good, but they are less bad than boy-girl [cause it's basically cuckolding] or all the rest of fetishes)
    • can't go at least 20 days without masturbation/watching porn or erotic content /sexually fantasizing
    • can't watch movies or walk around on the street without getting triggered (aroused)

It is different for everyone, i believe you become aware of how addicted you are when you begin to quit. The withdrawals and other symptoms are usually a good indicator, in my opinion, to the severity of your addiction.

For me personally, once a day for about 5-7 years was enough to give me horrible symptoms and i would class myself as heavily addicted. Years later and symptoms still effect me.

Hope that helps brother and just remember to keep pushing forward. I call the symptoms we experience healing symptoms and it makes it that much easier to deal with. Im sure in no time you will have months under your belt. Goodluck man

A heavy user is a user who's become dependant on porn and let it drizzle into his daily life and routine and let it affect them. It's someone who feels the need to have his daily dose of pornography and can't go without it/it's hard for him without it. Someone who constantly thinks about porn and is triggered by the smallest things.
If you got porn on your mind most of the day and you can't go without it so you let it interfere with real things that are important in life(relationships, work, socializing etc.)then you're most likely an addict/heavy user. 'Heavy user' is a subtle word for an addict.

Your story is really close to mine. I notice an uptick super quick but of course full on quitting is a much harder task. I'd say humble yourself because you seem like you POSSIBLY feel superior to other people on the forum which is going to set you backwards in the long run. Better you keep a mindset that as a porn addict you need help/change rather than qualifying the porn addiction which nefariously will lead you to justify continuing because you only jack off to straight porn
