Need advice abt porn blockers

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Mar 8, 2019.

  1. I had thought that porn blockers were just for "mentally weak" people who couldn't manage their mind in order to progress on their reboot journal. UNTIL NOW. Since my addiction is very related to porn, porn blockers are indeed a tool to make things easier (like a calc for doing maths). But I'm a little confused between alll the programmes. I want something that still allows me to use chrome on my mobile phone and blocking sick content effectively, due to many apps use their own google based browsers.

  3. On android, download incognito blocker. That is what I use.

Qustodio is what I've used for a long time. It's pretty thorough with lots of customization options.
But I always found loopholes anyway. What I found is that the blocker doesn't solve anything. Either you deal with your problem on a psychological level or you'll keep betraying yourself.

    Hello there.

I tried Cold Turkey for windows, and that works great.
Also use spin browser on android (it like a mozilla firefox with adult filters. It filter porn and mixed, like reddit, for instance)
But nothing is 100%, and I soon realized there was a way of viewing porn on my playstation, on my smart tv, etc, so I am using now cleanbrowsing. You can use on a particular device, but I chose to use it directly on my modem (it alters the DNS settings blocking porn and mixed and allowing google and youtube on restrict mode).
I am using currently this approach, but I still use spin on android, cold turkey on windows and safe browsing on iPad (one can never be too careful, I guess).
I am sure sure it is different for everyone, but for me, knowing for a fact that there is no porn available makes me at ease and makes me think less on porn. It is like being on a diet. You sure are hanging on your will power, but it helps if there is no ice cream in the freezer.
    Good luck

  6. I'm using Blocksite for Google Chrome it allows you to setup a password (I use a really long and difficult one so anytime I need to unlock it I need to go through the e-mail first), for some reason it used to block this site so I had to disable the adult block and setting every recurrent porn site I could think of manually, it also has an option of synchronizing with your smartphone I think. It is really good give it a chance. It helps but I could bypass it really easily...

Anybody have recommendations for Mac users? I tried K9 Protection which came recommended elsewhere on this site and am having lots of issues with it. Doesn't block websites even after I add them to the "never allow" list.

Covenant eyes is really good. Works on every device, and only costs $14 a month. It also sends your report to a person of your choice to hold you accountable. You'd be surprised how often I don't look because I don't want to have that conversation.

One more question as it seems unclear from the website, does the screen accountability on a phone apply to web browsing only or all phone usage? The reason I ask is that it specifies it is applicable on iphones only when using the covenant browser (https://www.covenanteyes.com/services/). I'm thinking to sign up in any case, but I'm trying to preempt loopholes.

    Thanks again!
