    We obviously notice it when it's 'fully formed', in a form of symptoms, but when does the origin of it start in the brain?

    Years before the symptoms? Months? etc.

    I think years before until it starts and settles in and it's obvious. I noticed problems *I think* in 2010-2011 and my dick didn't shrink into a flatline symptom until about 2016. I don't know exactly what happened, but I had like arousal problems after an orgasm usually in 2010-2011 that started AND I think I noticed some sort of emotionally numbness until that had appeared even stronger in 2016.

    Is this what I am describing, as PIED?

    I think it takes years for it to take effect. I was watching porn pretty consistently since I was in 5th grade and felt like I was pretty normal until maybe I was 18 or 19. In high school I remember we watched this movie in Literature class that had a nude scene and I got a full erection just from seeing some tits for 30 seconds. At this point I can't just get hard by looking at or thinking about some naked chick. So I think it takes quite a while before you notice any negative effects. I'm sure it's different for everyone - you have to take genetic differences, diet, exercise, etc. into consideration as well.

    Everybody's different. I watched porn heavily from about the age of 19 or 20 until I was about 35. When I got into my 30s I started having some issues staying fully erect - I'd be at like 40-70% most of the time and a couple times I went full limp noodle and that embarrassed me so much with my wife that I started doing reading on the subject and found myself on yourbrainonporn.org and after reading some science articles about the addiction stuff and realizing it fit me to a T, I realized I was having PIED issues and then some anxiety was getting added in due to some of the aforementioned failures in the sack.

    The fix for me was:

    * No porn
    * Only masturbating about once every 2-3 days
    * When I masturbate I only think about a scenario with a real girl, not an unrealistic pornstar type
    * Avoid constant fantasizing - fantasizing gets your dopamine flowing and by having your dopamine constantly flowing your dopamine receptors don't get the time they need to throttle back and recover from the constant overloading you've been doing to them for years

    After about 2-3 weeks (really around ~15 days) of following the above, I began noticing significant improvements. I have great sex with my wife now and no anxiety.
