  2. David Ley has been attacking nofap for quite some time. Gary Wilson (yourbrainonporn founder) wrote a rebuttal to his claims here.

  3. Yeah a friend sent me that as 'evidence' that abstinence is pointless.
The final sentence of the first paragraph sums most of it up:
'They are a vocal, committed, and zealous group, whose strident cries and hyperbolic language get quite a bit of media attention. I’m not in opposition to them, but I do think their ideas are simplistic, naïve and promote a sad, reductionistic and distorted view of male sexuality and masculinity.'
So shall we all just jack off on our own to recorded sex events that are often morally dubious?

  4. 'Diagnosing porn addiction is like telling a person with a cold that they have a sneezing disorder.' - This does touch on the truth that addictions of any kind are generally driven in part by underlying issues with need addressing.

This guy is a mere PhD- that carries no weight really, I know some pretty unremarkable people who have completed or are engaging in PhDs.

Just look at the buls*it he writes. Just an author that makes money on promoting PMO.Its his job, its his niche in the market.
Its not normal to have PMO cravings when you try to stop,to shake,to be stressed to dream of using and most importantly its not damn normal for a man to not respond to a "mating" chance.
Dont read stuff like this it might trick you into relapsing.

PMO is like alcohol or maybe video games. It depends on the person, when did he start to use, how much, possible bad or even traumatizing experiences, it varies. You must observe yourself for possible signs of addiction.

This article is one of the dumbest articles I've ever read, I bet the author of it likes PMO so much to a level where he went to promote it to people. I bet he PMO 20 times/day.

Porn is nasty, read my story, look how my fetishes escalated, never trust this stupid guy who wrote that article. Instead, listen from people who went through real experiences here on NoFap.

  10. I do agree with a few things he has said, but I also think he can't wait to pick on the most extreme examples of guys who post here. I have seen some complete garbage about the brain, ED, and particularly what masculinity is on this site. But, having said that, it's a more tolerant and helpful site than my local online newspaper, which contains comments by some of the biggest losers society currently has to offer.
And, no offense to him, he has to make a living, but his kind of books are a dime a dozen. He needs to keep his name in print so he can be lauded as some kind of expert. Right. Like Psychology Today is where one need turn for advice.
As a joke, masturbation being "self love" can be funny. I'd laugh too if I were not so deeply affected by it. NOFAP has been instrumental in me getting my life back on track when I didn't even know how far off I had gone. But he's welcome to his opinions.

So do we take all of the real life real world experiences of thousands of men and say - wow look at all these commonalities of how men feel, think, open up about their real experiences and the details of their own various addictions and actual experiences of how PMO actually impacted them and how a full reboot or a period of abstinence has changed them for the better, etc. and study and review those commonalities. Or just listen to a psycho-“logist” tell us to just go ahead and continue with our addiction -David Ley it’s people like you who promote this behavior and encourage this and describe this as “ normal” , etc. that helped influence me as a young man when I wanted to change to just continue in the pattern and that contributed to my 37 year addiction to PMO.

I’m sorry but PORN - MO is not “normal “ there’s nothing “natural” or “normal” about it. It’s a chosen behavior with very real consequences. Based on access to pornography to pretty much anyone at any age, anytime etc. the internet and this level of access to essentially “free” porn are a relatively new experience to boys/ men & women. Why would we not look for the real world, real life, actual experiences of real people with real PMO addiction and also success stories and look at that data as a credible source of evidence of how this impacts men and women both positively when abstained for extended periods or negatively when in the midst of the addiction.

    WHAT A JACKASS!!!

    Sorry, was that out loud....

I have seen similar content on this site. However, I think you find garbage on pretty much any forum. Posts aren't removed from this site unless they violate the forum rules, and the forum rules don't say anything about the quality of your posts. As long as they aren't threatening, excessive, advertisements, etc. it's fair game.

It's cherry-picking. If someone is writing an article criticizing NoFap and our community, it's much easier to pick out the crazies who talk about how retaining semen cured their baldness than it is to pick posts from the majority of users, who are level-headed and just want to feel like they're not alone in this journey.

  14. So true!! And can you imagine the number of Nofappers who clicked on the article. Boy, did they benefit from us! Ah, well. Soon forgotten. Meanwhile, we have work to do!! Cheers!

I agree, it's ridiculous. But I've ran into other forum users more than once who swear by it and are deadly serious about it and will take it as a personal attack if you disagree.

  17. What a clown that guy is. Hasn't he got better things to do then attack this site?

Talk about having an ego problem.

I think at this point it's more of a career move. The guy has turned denying the existence of porn addiction into a career. He probably depends on it to pay the bills.

    Probably, lol.
