    Actually ended a 181 day streak in December and I've had a rough time getting past two weeks or so. I begin again. Good to be here with others who understand my experience.

    Emotionally tough day. I'm getting in touch with a lot of sadness that I didn't let my self feel . This is a great journey and I'm approaching 30 days. One day at a time
     
  5. I found that during my year off from fapping I was able to let go of a lot of sadness. It’s all good in the end

  6. Here is a summary of the 4Ds that I wrote in an earlier post:

    1. Delay – Since cravings rise and fall like waves, if you can delay a relapse decision for 20 minutes you’ll generally find the cravings dissipate on their own.
    2. Distract – Craving time passes more quickly when engaged in a distracting activity for a few minutes.
    3. Deep breathing – Deep breathing exercises help you maintain calm and purpose when cravings hit, keeping you from making rash decisions.
    4. Drink a glass of water – Drinking a glass of water relaxes you and sets your purpose. Imagine your cravings as like a runaway train gathering momentum to a disaster. Simple activities like taking a moment to drink a glass of water are like brakes that slow that train!

    You can find a comprehensive explanation here. I think it was initially designed for drug and alcohol addiction but it very effective for porn/masturbation addiction from my short experience.
     
  7. Thank you very much. It’s good to be back on this site. The first 10 or 20 days are always the most difficult for me. I don’t really get a groove on until about 30 days

  9. Dude, this kind of processing, it takes courage, because it for real hurts. But I feel it's essential for progress. Sometimes we have to feel that depth of our experience, so we can let the past go, and move forward. You're taking a bold step dealing with those feelings. Good work buddy.

    Its great that you have developed to a point where you dont need the counter anymore.
    I am actually really looking forward to a time where I have recovered so much that I dont need the support here anymore, and have no concept of "which day I am on" anymore.

  14. I wasn't aware there was an audio book so thank you for telling me. I just got the audiobook in my hands so I will listen to it when I find time. Right now I am learning german through audiobooks and I still have some 15 hours left or so :)

    Today I have something interesting to share

    I am doing several other challenges for the moment but for this post the two interesting ones are these two:

    "The 180 day challenge: extreme mode" with a bunch of additional rules including:
    * No dreams (that I remember) about watching porn when I’m asleep.

    "The habit changer challenge" with one of the habits this one:
    "After I get a thought in my head that I don't want there, I will extend my peripheral thoughts by taking in external impressions from the environment."

    This means that whenever I think about something that I don't want to think about I am scanning the place where I'm in to get some input just in order to switch thoughts asap.

    "No dreams (that I remember) about watching porn when I’m asleep" means that if I realise I have watched porn in my dream I simply have to reset my counter in that challenge.

    The switching of thoughts has helped me very much in cleansing my head from porn and the habit has gotten stable by now as I practise it daily.

    Now to the interesting stuff: This night I dreamt about I was going to watch porn. I got like one picture in my head and what happened afterwards was remarkable: I switched thoughts immediately! So the practise of switching thoughts asap when I'm awake affected my dreams completely: I didn't dream about porn. I changed my dream directly when that picture came up.
