Motivation advice please - Physical activity for nofap

  1. So i was doing well on my nofap journey but not at strong enough level to hit my targets.
    I found being more active and pushing myself in the gym (mostly lifting or non weighted strength routines) really helped my overall esteem and confidence, and i think others have said similar.

    However, i fell quite sick (was overseas and got typhoid) and then my fapping returned to daily, and now i am on the crawl back up but picked up an injury.

    Now, i dont see working out as the only piece in helping me nofap, but it felt quite key, however being injured (shoulder) isnt helping, so wanted thoughts on what to do instead? to get that motivation going?

    Try just walking! Get up and go for a walk, or better yet a hike. Bundle up, throw in some headphones, and find a trail. I also found that books on tape really helped me distract my mind, as did great music (the kind that takes an hour to listen).

    Make a routine and stick by it for urges I prefer watching movies or playing games moving out going out for jogging and best one is to think that doing something productive instead of fapping

    Read my 10 key habits post in this forum. It contains the steps to make your life as you want it. as far as physical activity with an injured shoulder do 20 squats or 30 sit ups every time you feel urges or go take a cold shower. The exercise will curb the craving, the cold shower will eliminate it.

  6. Sometimes i think its easy to go down the rabbit hole, so movement i find is the key for me generally, its my medicine

    hoping if i can get back to more demanding workouts i can kill the porn too, as i notice when i was, i battled urges better

  8. exercised yesterday but around the injury, it just really helps with nofap, really gives me that discipline

    how are others finding the link between nofap and exercise?

    I go for regular hikes. I like to get out in nature and be still. I feel much more connected to myself when i hike a couple miles and have some solitude.

    I think it is essential. In fact getting outside is a weekly minimum for me and it has helped with my anxiety and depression quite a bit, which is where my PMO comes from.

  13. I have spent time in therapy and it has helped but not greatly, but exercise helps me so much more

    Getting outside is awesome, that Vitamin D is great. We don't do it enough. But if my energy is low, I will go for a walk with maybe a tiny bit of jogging here and there. I find this cascades into better workouts and increased energy.

    As for therapy, I find it helps but it is not a magic pill or cure all, depends on the individual of course. Meditation is sort of self therapy and way cheaper.
     
  16. Yes, i do like the cascading effect....after i finish working out, i just want to do more stuff, i enter flow
