    Hi,

NoFap works by stopping releasing dopamine all the time, so your dopamine receptors can recover. BUT, cold showers also release dopamine... so wouldn't this goes against the effect of nofap? Isn't a cold shower like fapping, releasing dopamine?

That's neither true, nor possible. All we try to do is to stop flooding our brain with unnatural amounts of it. Healthy ways of dopamine release (e.g. exercise, sex, etc.) are completly fine. Without dopamine, you would literally die of laziness.

  3. Try it. Totally different feeling between wanking and taking a cold shower.

So the dopamine release from cold showers is also fine & healthy?

I know, but I was just wondering about the science behind the dopamine receptors

The cold shower can help you to not relapse, you feel more concentrate if you cool your body (in particular, the head). You start breathing irregularly, then slowly regularly. This trick help me so much with shower!

Dopamine is an essential neurotransmitter and not the "root of all evil" like many people seem to feel. The problem isn't dopamine itself, it's the rush of dopamine (and the specific region in the brain it's released in) in response to pornography. Finding other, healthier ways to increase your dopamine production is ideal, like IR254 said (exercise, accomplishment, meditating, etc.)
