  2. Hi @i_wanna_get_better1 I know you're very busy these days being AP for others and mentoring and supporting those who need your help. Your contributions are appreciated by so many. But, I was wondering if you could give an update some time if you get a chance? Your story and recovery success are inspiring and bring hope to those of us who really need it. I hope your wife is still doing well, too. I miss seeing her posts which were always helpful and encouraging.

Thank you for all you do to help others.

@hope4healing, thank you for thinking of us and wondering how we are doing. There is a misconception that once we overcome addiction that life would be easier. Unfortunately, after addressing one problem we must move on to other ones. Life is really a series of challenges that hopefully make you a better person.

I would love to say that I never have any more urges or temptations. But this world is so aggressive and won't leave us alone. The online world has gone from passive surveillance to active engagement. We are being hunted and manipulated every day. Therefore, we never fully escape. But the recovery process gives us more control and we no longer have to act like mindless slaves.

Our married life, like other aspects of our lives, has gone through ups and downs. It would be nice to blame all our marital problems on the addiction. But it's kind of naive to think that once the addiction is gone that we can all achieve marital bliss. Often marital problems have many layers. Fixing the topmost layer only exposes other problems that require addressing. So, we keep working together to make things better.

Again, I appreciate your concern and I'm still willing to give my input if anyone needs help. Those of us who have made progress are obligated to share what they've learned with others. I hope things are going well with you.

Wow, what a great story man. I just read every post and you are a true inspiration. I'd like to know about how you got through the temptations and when did you start to see the improvements really take hold? Also just wondering if there was a point for you when it became easier to to control and resist the urges for PMO?

  5. I'm so glad I read this. I hit 90 days and did not have the willpower to stick with it. So I am trying again. I think your complete honesty in dealing with this situation was a key factor in your success. You've been accountable. And you've been a help to others. You have my total respect and that of others for sure!

  7. You have accomplished what I have come to view as an impossible task. It's inspirational. I hope that one day I can figure out how to finally overcome this temptation. I have recently become active again in my religion and it helps but I still end up giving in. Yesterday I watched so many general conference talks and felt the spirit strongly throughout so many of them and still even today I have given in. I have tried so many different things for so long, it's despairing. It seems like no matter what I do the temptation always over powers me. I guess I just have to keep on pushing forward until hopefully one day I make it.

Reading through all of these success stories gives me hope.

Try meditation, it's seen as the only way to maintain a basic discipline in my favorite religion. (Buddhism)
