Ashwagandha

  1. Has anybody heard of this herb supplement?

    I'm 20 yo and on a pretty decent streak of like 60 Days by now. I'm doing fine as is, I also have PIED. I understand this supplement won't heal PIED as PIED is all in your brain wiring.

    I'm doing some things to aide along my journey:

    -started meditation practice (10 min/day)
    -continue strength training
    -started cardio training
    -doing schoolwork (I believe helps w neurogenesis)
    -started taking colder showers (hair&skin benefits - not sure if it actually does something)
    -drinking green tea (1 cup/daily)
    -reading more (vs watching tv - helps w neurogenesis)
    -drinking more water (approx 1 gallon/day)
    -a good, healthy diet

    I'm considering ashwagandha for a month or 2 to see changes in my energy or minor anxiety. It also helps with testicular help and brain rejuvenation (so maybe helps my brain heal better ALONG w no PMO).

    Again, I understand this is not a sole answer to my problems. I want to know if anybody had experience with this and is there anything I should be weary about.

    It helps with testicular health but I don't want to be constant erect/horny which would lead to a relpase, as this is my best streak so far.

  2. I've been taking ashwagandha for a few weeks now. I also supplement with L-theanine and 5-htp. It's hard to tell if there are any physical benefits so I'd say that they are quite subtle if any. I can say that my overall mood has improved and I'm getting much more consistent sleep these days. Again I'm taking other supplements, so it's hard to tell which ones are doing what. From what I've read, ash supposedly takes awhile to build up in the system, so it may be a bit early for me to make any accurate assessments. I would suggest giving it a try since it is considered to be relatively safe and is said to have many health benefits. If you're having anxiety issues, I would recommend L-theanine. You get a small dose of it in green tea, but not enough to really notice it. For me, 100-200mg in capsule form can bring on a nice calm focus within 20 min or so, especially with a cup of coffee. Also a very safe and healthy supplement to take. Also, I think regular meditation with these supplements is extremely effective, so stick with it! Hope this was helpful and I apologize for my lack of info on the ashwagandha.:)

    My experience with ashwagangha is it's more even compared to other adaptogens like some kinds of ginseng which may make you horny.
