Before i say anything, I want to first say that I appreciate your motivation and your attitude. It is very inspiring for those who are just getting introduced to NoFap.

That being said, I severy dislike when people view NoFap as a challenge and set goals for themselves; not that goals and milestones are an inherently bad things, but they bring up the imminent question of "What happens after my 7 days are over?"

I did this. Many, many times I did this. I would set an ephemeral goals for myself and when they were up, I would use it as a justification to relapse. "Oh, well I made it this far, I might as well reward myself." And I would effectively be thrown back into the never ending PMO cycle.

So I encourage you, and everyone else who is choosing to partake in NoFap, to not view it as a challenge or a goal, view it as a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. 7 days isn't going to do anything if you don't adhere to a new and bettered mentality and perspective on porn itself. Going 7 days of abstaining from PMO wont mean ANYTHING unless you decide to CHANGE your entire LIFE around. It is an overhaul of your LIFESTYLE which breaks your addiction. Not a goal.

I'm not meaning to bash your post in anyway, but I've come to the conclusion that setting goals doesn't do you any good.

If you decide to change your life around and rip pornography from every facet of your life, then you don't NEED a 7, 30, or 90 day goal.

Hope this makes sense. Again, I appreciate your post, but I think it's time people start re-thinking the "challenge" aspect of NoFap.

Yeah but your main argument is about a longterm goal. Lifestyle changes are LONG TERM and EVERY war is won with the small battles. So whereas I see your point, you can't get really get to where you want to go ( NO PMO for life) without starting somewhere.Starting small. For some of us that "starting somewhere" is a challenge just like the one i posted.

Also it sounds like your argument "Going 7 days of abstaining from PMO wont mean ANYTHING unless you decide to CHANGE your entire LIFE around" - seems a little illogical ( not an attack on you)

Changing your LIFE involved YEARS and that involves MONTHS and eventually comes to your DAYS. you can't Change your entire LIFE around without making this a day to day challenge. My opinion. Appreciate your reply though. Hope you are well.

hi. how are you all doing? i had a busy day, so no real challenge. yesterday as a first day was more tangible but so far it's not too painful. i'm always so impulsive and i'm scared of that kicking in & me over...

hi thanatos, congrats for taking on the caffeine, too. i've been off coffee & tea for a long time and it's one of the few renunciations i really recommend people to get into. i found the withdrawal hard, though - headaches, photophobia, dull mind - i remember it to have been really aweful. only for about maybe six days or so, though. it depends how much you've been drinking, of course. at the very end i was doing about 3-7 three-in-ones (soluble coffee). - anyway: blessings & good luck! it's really worth it...

7 days are good for newbies . if a new guy set his goal to 30 days he will relapse at day 3 saying "well I'm still far away from 30 and I will never raech it anyways"

well, 7 days is just a little thing to get started and something that one can easily commit to spontaneously. also something that one can do together. i liked the initiative of king and that is what is keeping this thread going. i also have another spreadsheet where i try to get to a thousand days, though ultimately i aspire to never even think about either sex or having to control it. in that, i think, we all agree with jay: so much more is necessary than a little fast.
it's day 3 for me now and the restraint of the eye has been the biggest disappointment but so far no real temptation. it becomes clear that the entire cognition process must be somewhat laboriously reconditioned - the eye is so much on (semi-)autopilot, as is much of the mind...

It's great that you're taking up the challenge, I fully support you, but I just want to say a few points about a 7 day goal.

7 days realistically isn't a very long time for NoFap. I know it's a start, and by all means do as you wish, but I can tell you now that 7 days won't change your life or rid PMO. I'm actually on my 7th day now and feel no different to when I began. For NoFap to really take effect it needs to be done over several months or longer.

Don't let me put you down though, I just want you to be aware encase you reach your 7th day and decide NoFap doesn't work or something! :D

I'm still feeling confident and stable :) it's much easier than my last 2 attempts . I think that going P free and M free is the secret

how is everybody doing? who is actually still with us?
for me, it's been not too difficult, though the restraint of the eye & thoughts is still wanting. i'm now looking to create some mini-habits to get the distance to impulses a lot greater. does any of you have experiences with mini-habits?
