47 Y/O male: My goals for the summer

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jun 2, 2019.

  1. Hello all.
I am starting a new post that I will update regularly to keep me on track this summer. Here are my goals:
    1. No PMO for at least 90 days. I have never gone that long so I want to see the benefits of semen retention for that length of time.
    2. No sensual massages with an E....this is actually more of a problem for me than P.
    3. No alcohol....which is a huge trigger for me. When I relapse I am almost always under the influence.
    4. Workout 4 days per week.
    5. Deal with my withdrawals effectively.....if I am craving alcohol or O, I will either meditate, workout or go to a movie.

I have come a long ways this last year thanks to this site, but I need to push it up to the next level. If anyone has similar goals and wants an accountability partner feel free to message me directly.

Hey, I see we are about similar ages, I am 46 this year. I don't have as many goals as you, just to get porn out of my life and to be more physically active. I just re-started a few days ago myself, Make it happen bro!

  3. Thank you! I wish you well with your goals and your re-start!
    Take care.

i am 49 here ... suffering from depression and anxiety

  5. 1st day of my re-boot.
Still feeling the effects of my guilt and shame from acting out on my SA the other night.
I was emotionally drained so I was too exhausted to exercise after work today but I will get a good night’s sleep tonight and hit it tomorrow.
All my other goals are in check.
I will continue to battle this so I can eventually have my self respect back which will translate to more respect towards others.

Now I am trying to train myself, any time I have even the slightest inkling of sexual urge related to pornography, the first thing I want to do is open this website to look at successes and struggles..

  8. 2nd day.....felt better than yesterday. Had a workout at the gym after work and met all the rest of my goals. I really despise the guilt and shame I feel when I mess up. So pretty simple.....stop doing it! Day by day....discipline, focus, and self respect.

  9. 6th day....I am hitting all of my goals except staying completely away from alcohol. I had 3 drinks at my home on Friday and 3 drinks at my home on Saturday after a rigorous week of work/family obligations. Luckily it didn’t lead me to doing anything stupid. I will keep moving forward.

  10. So I am going on 2 weeks. Doing well with my goals for the most part, except I have not been able to quit using alcohol altogether, but definitely have it under better control.
I will continue to do the very best I can and keep moving forward.

Sounds like you have a solid plan. Real reasons for quitting and most importantly a positive attitude.
Beating ourselves up just adds another 'meta-layer' of guilt and shame which makes the struggle harder.
Focus on the change from being a guy who is working hard to quit porn to actually becoming a guy that doesn't look at porn.
A subtle shift, but it was essential in my recovery. Positive visualisation.

  14. Thanks for all the positive, encouraging words!

  15. The best of all time!

  17. Going a bit off-topic here, but Rob Roy isn't bad either.

  18. So far, so good on my reboot. I want to spend the next few years really focusing on making myself a better person. I have done some really dumb, crappy things over the years but there is no taking it back, all I can do is continue to improve and learn from my mistakes.

  19. Gladiator is really good, but not better

  20. I am at 24 days on hardmode and things are going well. Had a very long workout at the gym today and felt great afterwards.
I really have not had any strong urges to relapse so that is also good. I will not let my guard down though.
