Did you discover porn alone or did somebody else show you for the first time?

    Hello,

I have been trying to kick the habit for 5 years now but never thought it was a problem. My father showed me how to search porn on the internet when I was age 7 and how to delete my browser history after. He is serving a life sentence in prison for sexual abuse of children and child pornography.

About 3 years ago I slid into major depression and relationship issues with my partner. I lost interest in her and life. After we separated last year the depression and porn use got worse. About 3 months ago I started slowing down my porn use and felt much better daily. I did a 2 week reboot, felt great and thought I fully recovered and started back up again. Within a few days everything came back.

I am kicking it for good this time now that I have done some research on the topic and found this forum. I had a 3 week stretch then had a quick session 2 days in a row. I need a little help to kill this thing. Let’s crush it!

    Wow.

You have all the help you need here if you use a journal to be honest and introspective with your self (or just vent, journals are good for that too) and you ask. The journals will put you in the list with others your age going through the same process. Pick some to follow (can't follow everyone, too many of us here) and learn from and you will often find they will also be looking out for you.

Consider finding some real-life meetings (SA, SAA) too. They can be great I hear, although I just journal.

Thank you for the insight. Journaling is a big help. I keep a private one but I might posting some stuff here to soundboard. This forum has already been a big help.

I just signed up tonight. Still trying to figure out how to make use of everything but I feel desperate to kick this habit. My father had porn around growing up and while he didn't watch it with me it surely was not the best example for child becoming a preteen. I've been watching porn for a long time and I didn't realize it was an issue until about 5 or 6 years ago. It hasn't caused my depression but it has certainly been my crutch when dealing with my emotions. I'm so tired of it.

It is all a journey bro. We all travel at our own pace. I have really noticed a lot of improvements in my life from reducing the stuff in my life and it keeps getting better.

LMK if I can help you out in any way.
